Who We Are
Pug Rescue of Sacramento is a non-profit organization that takes
in Pugs and Pug mixes from across Northern California that have
been abandoned at shelters, found as strays or turned
in by their owners. We then spay or neuter the Pugs, make sure they
are current on their shots, perform a heartworm test and start medication,
insert a microchip, health check and provide for other medical assessment
and treatment as needed, foster in private homes of our volunteers
and then place them in loving, pre-screened adoptive homes.
PROS accepts donations of new goods and services for our yearly auctions and raffles, as well as cash donations. We accept Pay Pal donations and you can also make donations through United Way. We are a state and federal non-profit corporation so your donation may be tax deductible.
Effective May 14, 2003, The Internal Revenue Service has determined PUG RESCUE OF SACRAMENTO to be a nonprofit organization as described in section 501(c)(3). The IRS determination letter is available by e-mailing your fax number to rescue@pugpros.org. All contributions and donations to our organization are tax deductible. Our Federal Tax ID# is: 91-1882464.
Adopting a friend
PROS only adopts to families in Northern California and parts of Nevada. Please go to our website for information and application forms.
All Pugs that are adopted out are done so under a contract that provides that the Pug will be returned to PROS if the owner can no longer keep the Pug for any reason.

We hold various events in the Bay Area such as Pug Sundays and the Adoption Fair. Go to our website for more information, locations and time.We are always looking for additional volunteers as well as foster homes for the Pugs waiting to find their forever home.
How can you help?
We need foster homes!
Thank you so much for all the offers to foster, we have received since our plea first went out. We still need your help. There are more and more Pugs who need us and need a place to stay until we find them a forever home. If you can foster a homeless pug even for a few days, please fill out an application to foster/adopt. Look at our information under Fostering a Pug for detailson our website, www.pugpros.org. If you have adopted from us already, you are pre-approved so please contact us ASAP. We urgently need your help! Fostering is a fun and rewarding way to help the homeless pugs!
If you are interested in volunteering or fostering, please fill out and submit the Membership Application available on our website or by calling 925 974 PUGS to have an application be mailed to you.
20 Ways to Help Pug Rescue Without Adopting or Fostering
1 Donate money
2. Become a member ($25.00 per year or $150 per lifetime).
3. Sponsor a hospice pug.
4. Shop online through iGive.com with PROS designated as your favorite cause.
5. Donate a collar, harnesses or leash.
6. Donate a soft toy, Kong, Booda bone, Buster Cube or other "pug friendly" toy.
7. Donate a x-pens or baby gates.
8. Donate some treats or a bag of premium dog food.
9. Donate some grooming supplies (shampoos, combs, conditioners, etc.).
10. Donate stamps
11. Donate long distance calling cards
12. Donate a gift certificate to a pet supply store.
13. Donate medicines that you no longer use for your dog.
14. Donate a raffle item or auction items for fundraising.
15. Make a quilt or other special item that can be used for a raffle or auction.
16. Auction something on EBay or other auction site with the proceeds going to rescue (usually you get higher bids if people know its for rescue).
17. Donate flea control products (Advantage, Frontline, etc.) and/or heartworm pills..
18. Contact companies to donate items for "adoption packages" for new adopters.
19. Talk to all your friends and coworkers about adopting and fostering Pugs.
20. Make a bequest in your will to P.R.O.S.
