P.A.W.S. Who We ArePartners for Animal Welfare and Safety (PAWS) is a California Public Benefit Corporation. Our mission statement is “Dedicated to the prevention of litters, not the destruction of unwanted animals”. Our volunteers work with the Tehama County Animal Shelter to help find homes for those pets. This website is intended to help place animals seeking homes prior to them having to be surrendered to the shelter by their owner. PAWS also funds the only spay/neuter program in Tehama County California. Donations are accepted at our mailing address to help fund this valuable program. PAWS is recognized by the IRS as a 501-c-3 non-profit organization.

Adopting A FriendAll listings here are courtesy listings. PAWS does not have possession of these animals, and your adoption is to be arranged with the listing party. PAWS will not answer or forward inquiries about listed pets; you must contact the owner directly.
To list a pet with us: *PAWS will list only domesticated animals owned by Tehama County residents.*We do not support selling animals: adoption must be free, or cover only direct costs incurred in readying a pet for adoption (veterinary costs, spay/neuter etc) *We can list up to 3 digital photos with the listing. Photos must be jpeg files. File size should be less than 50 K in size and no larger than 500 X 500 pixels. *E-mail pawsvolunteer@gmail.com for a form for you to provide the necessary information (a form is available by mail, but that will delay your listing) *PAWS reserves the right to refuse or take down any listing for any reason *You must e-mail PAWS weekly to update the status of your pet’s placement, or notify us as soon as the pet is placed in a new home. Please reference the ID number we have assigned the pet in your e-mail. If we do not receive an update from you, at our option we may remove the listing *We encourage owners to perform due diligence to ensure your pet goes to a home suitable to you individual pet’s needs. Keep in mind not all potential adopters are sincere in their intent to provide a secure home, and it is up to you to find the right home.
