Overview of Our Agency:

This 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization was initiated in 2004 and incorporated in 2005.  The agency founder has over 30 years of business experience and private dog rescue experience and has certificates in shelter management, shelter enrichment and behavioral assessments of shelter animals from the Humane Society of the United States.

Although we will take in almost any dog that meets our intake requirements, we specialize in taking in unwanted pregnant dogs (seeing them through their pregnancy, and finding homes for them and their pups), puppies (8 weeks old and under), orphan pups (bottle babies), and stress-aggressive Chihuahuas.  Special needs dogs and dogs that come from extreme situations also rank high with us for placement.

The agency provides no-kill shelter to dogs less than 40 pounds in weight, makes the dogs ready for adoption, screens potential adopters for a “good fit” with the dogs, and then releases the dogs into permanent long-term placements with suitable adoptive homes.

While in our care the dogs are given expert medical treatment by licensed veterinarians; behavior assessments by trained in-house staff; house-training and crate-training; some basic obedience training; and a modified raw food diet suitable to each individual dog’s needs.

Rather than being isolated in separate kennels, our dogs are placed in common rooms with other dogs of like temperament, so the dogs can get a lot of socialization, play time, and exercise.  The dogs are also exposed to the agency’s “assessment cats”, cats that are used to being around dogs, so the dogs can be evaluated for their compatibility with cats and taught to behave themselves when around other felines.

The heated and air conditioned common rooms are equipped with stress-reducers such as ambient music and environment sounds; DAP fixtures (which mimic the pheromone scent of a lactating dog, so the rooms smell like “mom” to the dogs); and the dogs are also given a daily full-body massage.

Our shelter house is currently under-going a major remodeling which somewhat limits how many dogs we can take in at this time.  (We always try to make room for puppies, however.)  We'll be knocking out some walls, replacing flooring, painting (inside and out) and expanding the fenced-in area where the dogs can run and play outside.  We appreciate your patience with the "mess" during this time.

Placing a Dog in Our No-Kill Shelter:

Dogs are placed with our agency by appointment only.  Placements can come from individuals or other rescue groups and shelters.  We charge owners a nominal fee for placing their dogs with us, but do not charge a fee for placements from other rescue groups, pounds or shelters. Finding a New Home For Your Unwanted Dog:

If we are contacted by an owner who wants to place a dog with us, but we don’t have room for the dog, or the dog doesn’t meet our weight requirements, we still make an effort to help the owner find an adoptive home for the dog through our “Refer a Dog” program. We have the owners fill out our referral paperwork  and send us several photographs of their dog.  Then we place adoption listings for the owners on various national adoptions websites, FREE OF CHARGE.

Helping owners find alternative placements for their unwanted dogs keeps the dogs from living in a home where they are no longer wanted or cannot be cared for; stops dogs from being abandoned elsewhere; and keeps the dogs off the hands of Animal Control officers. Read more about our "Refer a Dog" program, click on the Re-Home Your Dog link.

How You Can Help Our Dogs:

Donate Funds: Our agency is registered with the IRS as a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization so your donations may be tax deductible.  Cash donations can be mailed us or sent to us on-line at our website: www.fetch11.org.  Go to any page on the website, and click on the Donate to Fetch 11 link.  You can also click on the big DONATE button at the bottom of any page on this site.  It will take you to a PayPal site where you can make a donation by credit card or checking account securely on-line.  No donation is too small.  Remember that a donation of even just $25 will help us buy a large bag of dog food or pay for several vaccinations for the dogs!  A $100 donation will pay for a spay/neuter surgery and vaccinations!

Volunteer: We’re always grateful for assistance from volunteers.  We especially need volunteers who can sew kennel blankets for the dogs, or can bake treats for the dogs. If you can assist us with these needs, please e-mail us.

Sponsor a Dog:  If you are unable to adopt a dog, but would like to help a dog out by paying for some of the costs of its care, training, and vet bills, you can sponsor a dog of choice by making a minimum donation of $25 in the dog’s name.  We will keep you apprised of the dog's process with updates. For more information on how to become a doggie sponsor click on the Sponsor a Dog link.

Help Pay the Dogs’ Vet Bills:  If you’d like to help pay for the dogs’ veterinary care, you can make a donation directly to our “Fetch 11“ account at the Shasta Lake Veterinary Clinic, 4522 Shasta Dam Blvd, Shasta Lake City, CA 96019, or call your credit card information to the clinic at 530-275-8871. Moneys sent to the vet clinic go directly to pay for the health needs of the dogs in our care!

Fostering: We always need foster families who can provide dogs with in-home care and training while they’re waiting to be adopted.  If you’d like more information, please contact us.

Mrs. Paroo and Her Puppies
Mrs. Paroo came to us as a blind and pregnant refugee from another shelter that was going to put her on death row.  We've seen her through her pregnancy and are seeking an adopter for her.  To read more about this remarkable, funny, and lovable dog click on her photo and see her own blog!

Dusty Farmer
Dusty Farmer came to us as a fear-aggressive dog with a withered rear hip and leg.  We were able to find him a permanent placement!

Dory
Dory was a Fox Hound / Terrier puppy who was born in our shelter along with her nine siblings.  We found a home for her and homes for all of the rest of the pups in the litter.

Selma
Selma was a Pit Bull mix who came to us as a starving dwarf with mange.  We were able to see to her medical needs, get her healthy, and found her a permanent adoptive home.

Suzette's Puppies
This was a litter of Am Staff / Boxer mix puppies that were born in our shelter to a mom who came to us as a pregnant stray.  We found homes for all of them.

Crumpet, a Dalmatian/Basset hound mix
Crumpet was adopted from our agency, and later proved herself a hero when she saved a 2-year-old from running out into the street!

Bonnie, Brodie and Brennan were abused McNab mix puppies who came to us from another shelter that didn't have room for them.  We got them all adopted in less than 2 weeks!

Brutis was a Lab / Malamute / Rottweiler mix pup.  We helped him and his siblings find homes through our referral dog program.

Cletus was born in our shelter, and Linus was an owner relin-quishment.  They became "best buds" while in our shelter.  We found adopters for both of them.

Dolly came to us as a pregnant stray.  She had 7 pups in our shelter.  We found placements for all of the pups, and Dolly was adopted by a couple with another hound

Little Isaboe was one pup in large litter.  She was fawn and blue with sapphire blues eyes.  We found her an adopter before she was 10 weeks old.

Bridget My Widget was a Fox Terrier puppy.  She was adopted at age 8 weeks.

Elijah was a Lab / German Shepard mix pup who came to us with aggression issues.  We were able to find him a permanent placement.

Princess Tantrum and her sister Feruka Ferryenkov came to us from an owner who rescued them, but then couldn't manage their hyper personalities.  Both dogs were adopted in less than a month!

Lulabelle
Our staff rescued Lulabelle the Cocker Spaniel from death row at another shelter.  She was 14 years old, deaf, nearly blind and had tumors on her body.  We were able to give her two more years of comfortable, happy, safe life at our no kill shelter before she died of old age.

Fredericka had been dumped in the woods and had to care for herself and her 3 pups for a month before she and her little family were rescued.

Vivid the blue-eyed Rottweiler mix!
