Queen Charlotte Islands SPCA
Adopting from Elsewhere
We are adopting many animals to homes far from the Queen Charlotte Islands, thanks to the Petfinder website. We welcome enquiries. Be prepared to answer some questions from us as we attempt to match you with an appropriate pet. Transportation costs are the responsibility of the adopter. It is easiest for us to fly animals to Vancouver or Prince Rupert, and adopters will probably need to be able to pick up their new pet at one of these locations. Email us for more information.

Who We Are
The Queen Charlotte Islands branch of the SPCA is staffed entirely by volunteers, and you can be one too! Call and express your interest, and we will find a way for you to help out. Some options are: socializing with cats and dogs, caring for the animals, dog walking and training, fundraising, humane education, being a foster parent.
What We Do
We take in lost, surrendered, and abandoned animals, house them and ensure they are healthy before trying to find them new homes. For emergencies, lost or found animals, cruelty or neglect concerns, call 250-559-8439. Please be aware that the person taking your call is a volunteer, who may not be able to respond immediately. For medical emergencies, contact Dr. Richardson in Tlell. For problems involving animals at large, or animal control, in Masset contact the Village of Masset office at 250-626-3995, in Old Massett contact the Old Massett Village Council at 250-626-3337, in Port Clements contact the RCMP in Masset at 250-626-3991 and in Queen Charlotte City, Skidegate, Tlell or Sandspit contact the RCMP in Queen Charlotte City at 250-559-4421.
Donations welcome
The QCI-SPCA is not a government agency, and does not receive any government funding. It relies on donations from community members. Donations can be in the form of money, pet food or supplies. A receipt for income tax purposes will be provided.
Adopting a friend
If you are seriously searching for a pet to adopt, please call and tell us what you are looking for. We can keep your request on file, and call you as soon as we have an animal who meets your requirements. For example, we often keep a list of people waiting for small dogs or puppies. Even better, fill out an adoption questionnaire (available for dogs only at the moment) and you will be moved to the top of the waiting list. Adoption fees are $50 for cats, $30 for kittens, $125 for dogs and $135 for puppies. All animals will have undergone an initial vet check, defleaing, deworming, and will be spayed or neutered if mature. Owners must agree to spay/neuter animals not yet altered, and are responsible for the cost.
Come Visit Us!
We do not have a shelter - all animals are housed in foster homes. Please call first before visiting the foster homes. If you are interested in getting more information about, or meeting one of the pets listed, you can contact us via email at puppy@qcislands.net, or phone 250-559-8807 (for dogs)or doromike@qcislands.net, or phone 250-559-8439 (for cats).
