Who We Are
We are a branch of the BC SPCA serving primarily the communities of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. We have cats, dogs and rabbits for adoption and we also have small pets such as hamsters and sometimes small farm animals such as ducks. Pets turned in as strays must be held for five days to give the owner an opportunity to reclaim them. If not reclaimed, they can then be adopted.

Adopting a friend
Come and meet our pets. They are all wonderful and just waiting for the right person! There is a pre-adopt form to complete so we can ensure a good match of pet and home. There is also the standard SPCA adoption contract to complete. Please remember that a pet is a lifelong commitment. Keep their life span in mind when you adopt. See our official web page for current adoption prices.

Our Featured Animals...

"DALE"

Dale is a handsome boy who has been through all this before. The first time Dale was at the shelter, he came in as a stray and waited quite a while for a home. Thankfully a nice family saw him and decided that they would be able to give him a chance. Dale worked well in their family until they brought in two new cats to their house, which made Dale very upset. The family worked hard at getting Dale to adjust to his new siblings but after a lot of time, it was determined that he was just too unhappy so he was brought to the shelter in hopes of finding a forever home without any other cats. Dale is a sweet guy with a lot of personality and if you have a lot of love to give, with no other felines, Dale is definitely the guy for you. He truly deserves his forever home!

Our Featured Dog...

"NOAH"

Noah is a SWEET, GENTLE senior dog who came to the SPCA as a stray. Noah sadly keeps hoping that the next foot steps he hears will be his guardian, coming to look for him. Though he waited patiently, no family came looking for him. So now Noah is here at the Maple Ridge shelter where we are very happy to help him find a FOREVER FAMILY to give him all the love, care and attention he deserves! Noah is still ACTIVE and LOVES his walks! Noah's new guardians should be moderately active, confident and calm. They should be prepared to provide lots of time for PLAYING, EXERCISING and MENTAL STIMULATION! Noah has great doggy manners and seems to get along with other dogs and may do well in a home with respectful canine friend! He is good with kids too but would probably be happiest in a home with older kids 12+ as he may find little ones too overwhelming! Noah should practice being left on his own for short periods of time at first until he is comfortable knowing his new family will be back for him! Gradual introductions to new situations are important for Noah as he can be hesitant when something is unfamiliar. Noah is a HAPPY, LOVING, EAGER TO PLEASE dog who will make a WONDERFUL companion!

Our Featured Rabbit...

"SUNSHINE"

Sunshine is a BEAUTIFUL young medium size Dwarf/Dutch rabbit, who was surrendered by her family almost a year ago when they moved and were unable to take her along. She was a scared and very pregnant rabbit. She was given lots of love and care and she raised her beautiful babies, who have all long since found wonderful homes. Now it's her turn to find a loving, forever home. She is SWEET and SOCIAL. She likes to come out and say hello when visitors pass her cage. She will do best in an indoor home where she has lots of room to stretch her legs and investigate her world! She is litter box trained. If you are looking for a new friend, please come and visit Sunshine!

News
We desperately need dog walkers in the afternoons! Approximate times 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm. Please contact us at the shelter or drop in for more information. We urgently need foster homes for animals with common, minor illnesses such as cat flu who just need a safe place to recover and for animals who are pregnant or too young to be at the shelter. During kitten season (April - September), we need foster homes for moms and babies until the babies are at least 8 weeks old.
