News:

There will be no SANS Xmas Raffle for 2007. We appologize for any inconveniences! We are hoping to have one organized for the Spring and will post an announcement regarding where tickets can be ordered. We would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who supports SANS. We wouldn't be able to provide the proper health and care to our animals without your help.

Who We Are

The West Coast Spay and Neuter Society — SANS — is a volunteer-run registered charity established in 1990. We are guided by two principals: all life is valuable, and we are responsible for improving the quality of life for all those in our care. We make no judgement on whose life is worth rescuing and whose life is not. The sick, elderly and homely are as precious to us as the healthy, young and attractive. We rescue, shelter and nurture animals, and we are a no-kill shelter.

The SANS shelter is located in Mission, B.C. SANS has placed hundreds of dogs and cats in loving homes. The dogs are "death row" dogs who were taken in from pounds where their number was up.

SANS receives no funding other than donations. All donations go directly to the animals. Administration costs are donated by the volunteers. We ensure that animals over six months of age are spayed or neutered and have their basic inoculations.

Ways to Support SANS

The West Coast Spay & Neuter Society is a volunteer-run registered charity and we are always seeking ways to fundraise in order to run our non-profit shelter. We are in desperate need of donations, whether it be material or financial. Any offer of assistance is greatly appreciated as well as needed. Please email us at: s.a.n.s@hotmail.com or call us at 604-826-7101 if you are able to assist with:

Fundraising efforts:

or are able to donate one or more of the items listed below.

We desperately need the following items:

We also need donations of the following items:

In addition, we have donation cans for collecting coins, if you are able to place one in your work place, it would really help us out!

If you are able to donate ANY of these items, or help out in other ways, please send us an email at: s.a.n.s@hotmail.com or give us a call at 1-604-826-7101 A volunteer will respond in order to make arrangements for donation pickup. Without your generous help, we would not be able to provide food, shelter and medical care for these wonderful and deserving animals. As a non-profit Society, we are very grateful for any assistance you may be able to provide us in maintaining our shelter. All monetary donations are tax-deductible.

Thanking Those Who Support SANS

We would like to acknowledge the outstanding generosity of FIRST MATE and SCIENCE DIET for their donations of food, which greatly assists us in keeping SANS animals happy and healthy.

Adopting a friend

Our dogs older than 6 months are spayed/neutered and tattooed, and all our dogs are innoculated. There is an adoption contract stating that you will care for the animal appropriately and that if you are unable to keep the animal you will return it to SANS. If you'd like to meet one of our dogs, please call us and leave a detailed message with your name and phone number. SANS rescues "deathrow" dogs who have been abandoned and/or abused. Only responsible humans please apply to adopt our dogs.

We're looking for homes for our dogs that will make them members of the family, living with the family in the home. Dogs are pack animals, they're highly social and it's cruel to separate them from the life of the family. There is a very small percentage of dogs who are better suited to outdoor life and who haven't adapted well to being indoor dogs. But even for these fellows, being part of the pack is extremely important to them. The outdoor home that they go to would have to be an exceptional home with the proper conditions, other dogs, and lots of outside activity with their people. They cannot just be chained in the back yard 24/7.

Many of our dogs are plain, older, big dogs. They also have the right to the same expectations that all dogs deserve: a loving pack whether human or canine, good quality and sufficient food, treats, and a comfy home with security. For people who are willing to provide this kind of environment for a hard-to-place good dog there will be no adoption fee.

Come Visit Us!

The dogs can be seen by appointment only. Call 604-826-7101 to set up a time.
