Our Mission

To be an innovative team of animal care professionals serving the community with integrity, providing education and resources to make measurable improvements in responsible pet guardianship and compassion for animals.

Adoption Policy

Matching pets to owners is a crucial process that goes beyond finding a pet their loving home. The staff at the shelter take the personality of the pet and the lifestyle of the adopter into account when trying to find their ideal family.

1. Check out our adoptable animals either online or in person during adoption viewing hours. Read through their profile to see if there is one who could be a good fit for your family.

Dog meets are arranged after an application is received.

2. If there is an animal you are really interested in, submit an application online or in person. Applications are processed in the order received.

Application requirements
All individuals who will reside with—or be in frequent contact with—the adopted animal should be present.
A landlord check may be required.
At least one piece of ID provided at the time of adoption must be a non-expired government-issued ID containing proof of address (e.g. driver license, government-issued mail within 4 to 6 months, or BC Services Card).
Must be at least 19 years old to complete the adoption process.
If you are adopting a dog and currently have a dog in your home, we will coordinate a meet for the dogs at the shelter. This process ensures your new pet will adapt successfully in your home.
Applications are to be completed for a specific animal and must include their name/id number.

3. Meet & Greet
You will get the opportunity to spend some time getting to know the animal as we want you to find a good fit for your lifestyle and family.

4. Make a Match
If it looks like a good match, then you will move forward with the adoption and taking your new pet home!
