We are, first and foremost, a branch of the BC SPCA (British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). We investigate animal cruelty and abuse complaints, and act as representatives for those who cannot speak for themselves.
We are also a shelter where neglected, injured, stray and unwanted animals can find solace, safety and a new start in life. After determining the adoptability of each one, these animals are vaccinated and wormed before being placed for adoption. Our staff and volunteers are dedicated to finding homes for these animals- homes that they will be in for the rest of thier lives.
The North Cariboo Branch serves the following communities:
Prince George, Bear Lake, Fort St. James, McBride, Mackenzie, McLeod Lake, Valemont & Vanderhoof.
Adopting a friend
Adopting a pet from our shelter is a life long commitment, and needs to have the agreement of the whole family. Please be sure that everyone in the household is in agreeance with getting a new pet.
It is our goal to place pets in loving, permanent homes. An important part of this is making sure that the animal you are adopting fits with your lifestyle. Potential Adopters are asked to fill out an adoption application and participate in a brief, informal interview.
Our shelter is open to the public between the hours of 11:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. We are closed Sundays, Mondays and Holidays.
