Who We Are
Chelco Farms is a non-profit facility, located in Victoria, BC. Canada, We are a specialized rescue, especially for the purpose of saving the lives of dogs considered, non-adoptable, hard to home, and those at risk.. We are a full time rescue service, registered charity, specializing in those dogs that have been severely mistreated.
Although the main breed we focus on is the Border Collie and Border Collie Mixes, we will offer our services in cases where extreme mistreatment has taken place, and where the dog has been removed from the abusive home by other rescue organizations, such as the SPCA.
Chelco Farms is committed to enriching the lives of the animals that come into our care. It is our goal to find each and every one of them, a permanent forever home. These animals are looking for nothing more.. It is our responsibility to find the best possible homes for him or her and to meet the individual needs of every animal. For that reason, we reserve the right to approve or deny any adoption as we see fit.
Due to our work with the dogs coming in to Chelco, and the length of time a dog may stay in rehabilitation, costs to maintain our rescue is very high.
Chelco Farms is maintained by our personal financing, and with donations or contributions we receive. Most of the costs for the rescues that come into our home are never recuperated. Costs include, transportation & flight, spaying and neutering, shots, tattoos or chipping, housing, feeding, equipment, training, etc..
Because we evaluate, assess, and rehabilitate our dogs in a much different manner then a shelter or pound, the dogs that come into our care may remain in our home for a period of weeks, months, or years. There are no set time limits for any troubled dog that comes to Chelco Farms.
