We are a 501c3 non-profit organization in Tucson AZ, supported entirely by private and corporate donations. Sister Seraphim, a Russian orthodox nun, founded the shelter in 1965, and moved it to the current location in 1967.

The mission of The Hermitage No-Kill Cat Shelter is to advocate for homeless cats in our community by:

Actively seeking permanent loving homes for the cats in our care

Providing lifelong care to those cats who for behavioral or medical reasons are unable to be re-homed

Educating the public about responsible companion animal guardianship

Our vision for the future is that:

Every cat is spayed/neutered and is cared for in a loving home by a responsible guardian

People treat animals as the sentient beings they are, ensuring that they are neither exploited nor harmed

The Hermitage Cat Shelter is a world-class organization, providing sanctuary care for cats needing both temporary and permanent shelter, and promoting the innate value of all animals

Our adoption process involves a tour of the shelter, completion of adoption application and agreement forms, and finally, a home visit. The adoption fee is $65 for kittens, $55 for adults, $45 for "special needs" cats. We also have special pricing for our senior program.

Considering the routine treatments, testing (FIV and FeLV), immunizations, microchip insertion, spay/neuter procedure done on all of our cats before they leave the shelter, and some other "perks" this is a real bargain! We gladly accept additional (tax deductible) adoption donations to help defray our costs in providing a loving animal for you.
