Our Pet List

Globe/Miami area has a pet over population problem. Please spay and neuter your pets. Most of the pets found wandering the streets or picked up by Rabies Control will not find homes and will be euthanized. These 'disposable' creatures abandoned by their owners are very sweet pets that need a loving and safe environment. Too many people abandon a pet because they don't know how to properly train them or believe that they are a bother because of the inconvenience of moving. The trauma they go through is unimaginable and unnecessary. Without your help many will die again this year. Please spread the word about spay and neuter. The Arizona Humane Society Spay/Neuter Mobile Clinic will be back in June to the Globe/Miami area. The non-confirmed dates are June 3, 4, 5th. There will be further advertising for this event. We will let the local newspapers and radio stations know when we have confirmed dates and the phone number to call for information. We had a great turn-out in February and expect the same in June. Prepare your pets that spend any time outdoors a place that is comfortable and dry. There is no excuse for allowing animals to suffer without decent shelter, clean, fresh water and food. If you feed your pet outdoors, put the food in a bowl and place that bowl in a bigger bowl that has water in it too keep the ants out of the food. Change the water daily. Please report abuse or neglect to your police or sheriff department. The Gila Humane Society has no legal authority and can only refer you to the local law enforcement. Please contact us if you are interested in becoming a volunteer. We need people who can do research, help with fundraising, or foster an animal. We need someone that can answer the phone and make changes on our web site.

News

The Gila Humane Society is working hard to find homes for homeless pets. Please do not add to the over population of unwanted pets. Please spay and neuter your pets. A little sacrifice in dollar bills now will help prevent the sacrifice of an unwanted pets life later. Please contact your local Humane Society for more information on low cost clinics.

Who We Are

The Gila Humane Society is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation comprised of a group of non-paid volunteers who give of their time, effort and money to promote spay & neuter and responsible pet care and ownership. Our funds come from community donations and local fund raisers. We do not receive government funds or subsidies. We are in need of volunteers from the community to raise funds and be there lending a hand at fund raisers and the everyday operations. We really need more foster homes to save more lives.

Adopting a friend

All dogs and cats are spayed/neutered and vaccinated prior to adoption. If you are adopting a dog, your fee also includes a rabies shot, provided it is at least 3 months old. The new owner must qualify as a responsible home before adoption and be at least 19 years old. The Canines MUST have a fenced yard with indoor access. The Felines MUST be kept indoors and may have access to the outdoors in a protected enclosure. You sign an agreement for adoption that is a binding contract. Please understand that although we may not spend the full adoption fee on every animal, we spend a great deal more than that on the medical needs, spay/neuter and boarding for some of the animals. If the animal you adopt didn't require extra care, then you are giving a gift to the other animals that needed special attention. To adopt one of our animals, e-mail or call the information number below. An application can be filled out over the phone, sent by e-mail, fax or by post. Once we receive the completed application we will call you to talk about the animals you may be interested in. If you would like to meet one of them, we can take them to your home or a place convenient for you and the foster family. Once you are approved we have you sign an Adoption Agreement and you have a new best friend! The Gila Humane Society does not operate out of one facility. All of our animals stay at volunteer foster homes in the Globe-Miami area until adopted. Please contact us if you are interested in becoming a foster home and experience how good it feels to save a life!
