Who We Are
The Verde Valley Humane Society is a non-profit shelter located in Cottonwood, Arizona. We are the holding facility for five different animal control offices in the Verde Valley. Our Shelter is physically small, but most of the stray or abandoned dogs and cats from the Verde Valley are housed here and processed though our system. Please call or visit the shelter if you have lost or are missing a pet. The shelter is located at 1520 W. Mingus Avenue, just off of Highway 89A, in Cottonwood. The shelter is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 to 3:00. Our phone number is (928) 634-7387.

Adopting a Pet
Adoption is a big part of what our shelter relies on to save many of these animals from a tragic end. To adopt an animal you will have to fill out an application and pay the necessary adoption fees. The adoption fees will include the cost of spay or neuter (if necessary), a certificate for rabies vaccination, license (for dogs), and a vet checkup. How Current is this Site?
The adoptable animal list for the Verde Valley Humane Society is updated on a weekly basis. We try to photograph most of the new dogs and the new cats on the weekend, and usually by Sunday evening the VVHS Petfinder animal list has been amended and updated. This is a volunteer effort so please be patient with any mistakes or delays that might occur.

Foster Care Program
A foster home provides a temporary home for an animal in need. It not only provides space at the shelter, but it gives the animal a better chance of being adopted. Once a pet has been in a home environment, the shelter and the foster care program can give a better description of the animal?s behaviors and habits. We will be able to place the foster pets in the most suitable permanent home!

Sponsoring A Pet
If you are interested in helping a pet at this shelter, but can?t adopt or foster one, you can help any animal of your choice with a financial donation to help defray the full adoption costs. These costs cover the necessary shots and the neutering of the animal. Come Visit Us!
We are located in Cottonwood, just off of HWY 89A. Cottonwood is 14 miles from I-17 on HWY 260. Follow the signs to HWY 89A towards Jerome. Continue on 89A towards Jerome until W. Mingus Ave. Turn left on Mingus Ave. We are 1/2 mile south on W. Mingus. There is a sign on 89A by the Maverick gas station that says Shelter, 1/2 mile. The address is 1520 W.
