Caring for Canines became an official non-profit organization in 2003 although the efforts of the animal rescue organization began back in 1992. In high school, Sarah Duncan used her allowance money to save dogs from the local shelters. Since then, it has continued to grow as more and more dogs are saved each week. Family, friends and other community members have joined in the cause.
Today animals that are at risk or may be euthanized are rescued both from private sources and from animal shelters. They are then given the appropriate medical attention and behavioral training so that they can eventually be adopted by a new family.
As pet overpopulation is a major problem in Maricopa County and thousands of animals are put to sleep each year, we are excited to have the opportunity to help in this area and are greatly appreciative of any community assistance.
