The unexpected change of operation at Fredonia Humane Society's shelter has left 6 highly adoptable pitties/pittie mixes and a dozen other mixed breeds in a fast search for foster/adoptive homes. Time frame for placement is 60 days (middle of December, 2009). Please see each dog's Petfinder profile by clicking the link above. Permission to crosspost.
Our Featured Pet...
A sweeter, gentler, more loving bull terrier mix you'll never find than in Trooper, who was found in a remote desert community quickly succumbing to valley fever, a soil-based fungal disease that compromises the immune system. He is now on his second series of medication due to a relapse but has not let that get in the way of his happy, loving spirit. Trooper is looking for his forever home or a long-term foster where he can play and eat (his favorite thing to do!) as he continues his 9-month drug therapy (supplied by FHS). He enjoys the company of other dogs but simply adores people. PLEASE SPONSOR TROOPER while he looks for his foster/forever home. Trooper is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Approx. 5 years old.
As a partner in the no-kill movement, the mission of the Fredonia Humane Society is the protection and welfare of animals through shelter, adoption, education and the advancement of responsible pet ownership throughout this and surrounding communities. These objectives shall be achieved by:
* Providing for animals who are abandoned, injured, victims of unfair or inhumane treatment, or who are otherwise in need;
* Promoting the Fredonia Humane Society by advocating the need to spay and neuter dogs and cats, as well as assisting in placing those animals whose owners request such help;
* Preventing animal cruelty by working to enact the passage and enforcement of laws for the protection of animals; and
* Imparting respect for and appreciation of all living beings.
