Kittens For Adoption Now
We have several kittens available now for adoption as of 11/19. They are 4 months old. One is a chocolate point Siamese, and the other 4 are white with blue eyes and are a Snowshoe and Siamese mix. If interested please email Dianne at di@cableone.net. Pictures will be posted soon. They are currently in foster care. Adoption fees are $35 which incudes testing for feline leukemia, shots, and spay/neuter services. All of these kittens have been spayed and neutered. We also appreciate donations of food or money that help to keep our fees low.
The Riparian Preserve is located on the SE corner of Greenfield and Guadalupe Roads, behind the Southeast Regional Library. We appreciate unopened, fresh, wet or dry food. We spend around $390 every month to feed the cats. For donations or adoption information call Donald at 480.830.9753 or email us at savethecatsaz@aol.com.
FrecklesAbout Our Cats
Our cats are an at-risk population. They face daily predators such as coyotes, great horned owls, a mountain lion, and unfortunately some humans. Some of our cats have been abandoned by their former owners. Others have lived their whole lives in the Preserve. Some individuals and groups feel the cats do not belong in the area and cannot coexist with the wildlife and birds in the area. Euthanasia of the cats has been proposed as an alternative. Because of this we hope to place as many cats as possible. We keep our adoption fees at only $35 to help expedite this process. Some of our cats take several months to acclimate to a new environment but can make great pets with time and patience. The other feral cats are in our TNR program and are not candidates for adoption. We have had many success stories with adoptions of our cats.
Many Thanks!
Thanks to Elizabeth Lewis for her recent large donation of dry cat food. Also thanks to Bob Janda for his support and help at the sales table. We also thank Petsmart for their recent grant to assist with TNR at the Preserve. Many thanks to Jessie Henry for her many years of dedication to the cats at the Riparian. She has worked countless hours feeding, trapping, transporting cats, and has assisted in grant writing. Without her this would not be possible. We thank Barbara Harris for feeding, trapping, fostering, help at the sales table, and her generosity to our cause. We thank Patricia Van Scoy for her generous donations toward our new computer. We thank Richard and Lynne Earle for fundraising, expertise in grant application, and for the participation in the Petwalk. To Leslie and Brian Feddery for providing foster care. And Sandy Miller for her dedication to the library cats over the years and all her hard work cleaning cages and with adoptions in past years. Also Julie and Darren Nelson for developing our trapping technique and many long hours of volunteer service in all areas in the past . We wish them the best in their lives in Colorado. We thank Lavonne Hammelman for faithfully feeding our cats. We welcome new volunteers, Steve, John, and Angela. Thank you all!
