Wow what a great holiday for us at the shelter! We received many donations from the community in the way of blankets, towels, dog and cat food, dog and cat toys, kitty litter, as well as some monetary donations. The best Christmas gift for them though was all of the dog and cat beds that were donated by many people! The animals love them! They are all using them! It was so great to be able to get them all up off the cold floors! Thanks to everyone who donated something!
Spring Rabies Clinic - February 25th from 9 - 11am. It will be held at All Creatures Veterinary Hospital, 655 E Fourth St, Benson AZ with Dr. Nancy Leverenz. Only rabies vaccinations will be given, cost $20. If you wish to receive a 3 year vaccination for your animal please bring proof of current rabies vaccination with you. All dogs must be on leash and all cats in carriers. It is Arizona State Law that all dogs 3 months of age and over be vaccinated for rabies and that this vaccination be given by a licensed veterinarian.

Also if you have a lost dog in the Benson City Limits or Cochise County in our immediate area and would like to send us a picture, or just a description, at our email address we will get it on the Facebook page and Petfinder. Also if you have found a dog that you would like to hang onto while trying to locate the owner, please do the same thing and we'll be more than happy to get those on our Facebook and Petfinder page also.
We are now taking applications for volunteers. If you would like to apply and volunteer at the shelter please give us a call or come down and pick up the application.
The Benson Animal Shelter is a division of the Benson Police Department and is operated by the City of Benson. Our facility is dedicated to finding homes for the animals left abandoned, surrendered and lost within the City Limits as well as Cochise County. We maintain our shelter with the caring efforts and donations from our community along with the City of Benson. Our volunteers work daily with all our animals to increase socialization and training skills.
We are open to the public between 12:00 and 4:00 PM Monday through Saturday or by appointment. We will be closed on Monday, January 16, 2012 in observance of Martin Luther King Day. We will reopen for normal business hours on Tuesday, January 17, 2012.
We are located at 104 E Harvest Way in the City of Benson. From I-10 take the 304 exit and go North on Ocotillo Rd. Just after Denny's take a right on to Darby Street. At the end of Darby Street take a right on Madison and then your first left on Harvest Way. We are the only complex with animal paintings on the walls. Hope to see you soon.
