Louie's House Shelter/Retirement Home

Our Adoptable Pet List

Our Featured Pets...

The Degu Gang...a frisky and happy group of 6 adult Degu, transferred in from another Arizona shelter. Grandma is in her twilight years and will remain here for life (and spoiling). Her offspring are currently loving life in foster care, itching for a home of their own! Available in pairs, or trios.

On the kitty end of things....you just have to meet Elli! Not only will she help you clean the litter box, you'll be subjected to the endless amusement of finding her in the oddest of places. She'll even pat you on the head if you don't notice she's atop the frig when you stop in for a snack!

If you are looking for a pet and do not see that we have such listed, feel free to contact us anyway, we do have many pets that are not listed for one reason or another, as well as contact with other shelters.

News

We are currently making trips through Tucson to the Phoenix area on weekends once a month, pets will be transported at this time to adopters in those areas. Feel free to email us regarding scheduling.

We have some adoptable critters, and some elderly rodents in the "retirement" program that are only adoptable under special circumstances. There are several other rats available that are not listed here, as they are not rats for beginners. They are still being socially rehabilitated and progressing very well.

WE DELIVER TO TUCSON AND PHOENIX METRO AREAS

Who We Are

Our Motto Is: Always Rescue...Always Adopt...even when it comes to pocket pets! We attempt to rehabilitate and re-home rats, mice, guinea pigs, gerbils, degu, chinchillas, ferrets, rabbits, hamsters, an occasional cat and dog, limited numbers of disabled goats, chickens, ducks and equines. We take in the ugly as well as the neglected and abused. Misfits are welcome to shelter here for life, we are No Kill and proud of it. The nearest town to us is Willcox, AZ, outside and to the east of Tucson (about an hour east). We do advocate spay and neuter programs but will not demand that you spay your new pet mouse. A responsible owner can handle a caged pet without us demanding it's alteration, however we do advocate same sex households if you have more than 3 pets in the household of the same species. Especially if you have little people in the house!

Our resident adoptable cats are housed in a foster care situation, not in kennels. They freely mingle with larger dogs, a variety of teenagers/adults, as well as the foster home's resident furry cat friends.

Louie's House has been around since 2002, educating the youth of today, assisting other shelters, rehabilitating critters and assisting them on their way to loving, forever families.

Adopting a Loved One...or Two...hummmm, three anyone?

We require adoption papers signed in blood to ensure the safety of our wards. They are not breeding stock and should never be used as such, they are companion pets. They are friends, not snake food. They are beloved beings, not medical experiments or class pets/projects to be thrown away when summer comes. There is an adoption fee for each ward, and you will get help finding a suitable cage, as much information as you want, heck, we'll even set the cage up for you! We deliver each of the wards directly to you, to help you get them settled in. They're used to us after all. Adoption fees vary depending on the pet being adopted, and are listed on that pet's listing. Discounts to humans are always available for the differently-abled and home bound among us! Most of our critters will make wonderful therapy pets and can be trained to do many things. If you let us know your disability, we will help you find a suitable furry friend. For more information, please visit our website at www.louieshouse.org, call or email us. The adoption application is available online at http://louieshouse.org/app . Once you are approved, you do need to fill out an adoption contract that transfers ownership.
