Who We Are
CARIN' and Lassie's Friends has experienced some tragedy. We grieve the loss of our Co-director, and our Director is currently recovering from a significant injury. While this has delayed our plans in Alabama, we will continue. We are currently looking for a new Co-director for the Alabama Sanctuary. The position is unpaid for the next year and will require lots of work, energy and enthusiasm. However, the benefits are tremendous; including a beautiful place to live and a good salary within the next 12-18 months. You must have rescue experience, good references, and be bondable. Leadership skills and organizational abilities will be extremely helpful. Call for information.
READ MORE ABOUT OUR UPCOMING SANCTUARY BELOW........ We are a group of volunteers that are dedicated to making the lives of the animals better. We rescue homeless, abandoned, abused and unwanted dogs and other animals. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered prior to placement, and all are current on their vaccines. Our focus is to find loving homes that will make our animals part of their families forever. We have a network of foster facilities throughout the greater Tucson area. We also network with other groups and shelters throughout the country.
As of December 1, 2006, we will no longer be able to accept new animals into our foster care system, due to the project listed below. However, we will continue with placement assistance for individuals and other rescue groups.
We are in the process of developing a sanctuary on land in Northern Alabama. The sanctuary will be a place for otherwise unplaceable animals to live out their lives with people who care. We will also take in other animals that can be placed. The property will also have a dog-friendly family resort on it. The resort will have a plethora of things to do, from quiet and relaxing, to fun and energetic activities. It will be the vacation spot to which everyone will want to come! The proceeds from the resort will be used to care for the animals, and the for profit will fund our non-profit! Where can you go on vacation and be spending all your money on an animal charity?! Our facilities for the animals will include a variety of living spaces, play areas, air conditioned rooms, and sleeping quarters that will be unique in and of themselves. It is our plan to do more than simply house these rescued dogs. We want to make their life full of quality, love, nurturing, and fun.

Adopting a friend
At any time we usually have a couple of dozen animals in our foster homes. We have some purebreds and other mixes. We evaluate the animal for temperment problems and health issues. We want to match the animal to the best possible home for their needs.
