A New Pet Will Be Featured Soon
|
|
We joined Petfinder on September 30, 2004. We are so excited because this will allow us to feature our adoptable and lost pets. The pet list will be updated Wednesday through Saturday. Every effort will be made to include all pets in the shelter. This will allow owners to check for lost pets at the shelter and potential adopters to see what is available.
The animal shelter was built in 1988 and houses approximately 36 dogs and 20 cats. The Bullhead City Animal Control Shelter, is responsible for enforcing Bullhead City ordinances pertaining to animals. The shelter actively makes every effort to reunite lost pets with their owners.
Lost Animals
If your pet becomes lost call the shelter right away at 928-763-6000. Voice messages are checked Monday through Saturday starting at 7:00 a.m. If it is the first time, your pet has been lost and ends up at the shelter your impound fee of $25 will be waived, but only if you call with a report or come by the shelter to fill one out. For your convenience, you may also fill out the lost report below. It will be submitted to the shelter by e-mail. If your pet is found, please call us so we can remove it from our list. It is your responsibility to check to the shelter to see if your pet is there. We do not always get a chance to check the lost reports as animals come in and your description might vary from ours.
Lost Report
Animals within the animal shelter are available for adoption after being held the required length of time. Animals without identification are held four working days, animals with identification are held six working days, not including weekends or holidays. Owner turn-ins are available immediately. All animals that are adoptable are at a first come, first serve basis. Anyone looking to adopt an animal that is on hold can place their name on the adoption list, then when the holding period is over, you may adopt it. If you see the animal on Petfinder, you may call (928-763-6000) and be placed on the it's list, however we would prefer you to come down to shelter to visit/see the animal beforehand. Unfortunately, we are unable to ship any animal.
You must be at least 18 years old and have a valid picture ID to adopt. Adoption cost for both dogs and cats is $58. The cost includes the spay or neuter (applied toward), rabies vaccination and license. All of these are required by state and local laws. This fee may vary depending on who adopts it, where the animal will reside and if any of the above procedures have already been done.
Breakdown of fees are as follows:
License
$10 (Senior $2) Bullhead City Residents
Spay or Neuter $50 (Applied toward)
Rabies vaccination $8
$68 (Senior $60)
