Who We Are
The Humane Society of Southern Arizona is a non-profit agency supported by its services, memberships, and contributions from our community. Incorporated in 1944 as the Humane Society of Tucson, we now serve all of Southern Arizona with our shelter, adoption services, spay and neuter clinic, education and outreach, and public service programs.
Adopting a Friend
Our Adoption Center at 3450 North Kelvin Boulevard in Tucson is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week. We also operate several off-site adoption centers throughout the Tucson area. Please call or visit our website for an offsite adoption schedule.
All dogs and cats adopted from HSSA are spayed or neutered prior to release to loving new homes. Sterilization surgery and initial vaccinations are included in the adoption fees of $80 for a dog or cat, $95.00 for kitten or puppy and $135.00 for purebred dogs. Animals over 3 months of age are vaccinated against rabies; dogs over 3 months of age are issued a Pima County license.
When you call or write to inquire about one of the pets shown in our Petfinder listings, please be sure to include the animal's Control/ID number and any other information shown.
* Please be aware that we receive as well as place many animals each day, and may therefore be unable to locate a specific animal unless you provide all details about the animal listed.
* Our animals listed on Petfinder are subject to prior adoption, and we are generally unable to hold an animal for future viewing. Your best opportunity to adopt the pet of your choice is to come to the shelter in person.

The Humane Society of Southern Arizona shelter is located at 3450 North Kelvin Boulevard, 85716, in north-central Tucson. Kelvin Boulevard runs north off Fort Lowell between Country Club and Dodge. Stop by and visit us -- we're open 11:00-6:00 Mon-Sat, and Noon - 5:00 on Sundays.
