Arizona Basset Hound Rescue is a non-profit organization located in Phoenix, AZ dedicated to rescuing basset hounds throughout Arizona. Through our network of volunteers, we are able to provide adoptions to the entire state. Rescue means finding new homes for abandoned or relinquished dogs. Rescued bassets are from pounds/shelters, strays whose owners cannot be found, and those given up directly by owners who no longer want them for various reasons. Volunteers pick up the dogs, take them to the vet as needed, provide foster care and help in locating new homes for the dogs.
Adopting a Basset Hound
We do have some criteria that must be met by the adoptive home including a fenced yard, an indoor sleeping/living area, and compatibility with all household members/pets. We ensure this compatibility through the application and a home visit. There is a $10 non-refundable application fee and a donation charged for each basset, which goes toward bringing most of the bassets to adoptable status. Donations are incremental based on the dogs age and range from $100-$250. All bassets are spayed or neutered (absolutely no exceptions), current on shots, and have been checked for health problems. Adoption applications are available on-line at www.azbassetrescue.com. You must fill out the application and pass the home visit before we can discuss any questions you have about our available dogs with you. Feel free to contact any of the private adoptions yourself.
