WE
NEED YOUR HELP TO HELP TAKE CARE OF THE ANIMALS
|
"A drop of water isn't much, but many drops make
a bucket." Translation...The donation you give, added to the others we
hope to receive, mean a lot of help for the animals in our care. YOU can make a
difference!
|
Lone Pine, like most shelters, survives primarily on donations. This means that when our budget is tight, and most of the time it is, even the less expensive items, such as bleach, can add up and be a worry. The supplies and materials needed to keep the animals in a clean, comfortable, and safe environment, along with the veterinary expenses,
utilities, and gas really add up each month. That is why we are asking for
donations of the following items listed below (not listed in any particular
order). With your support we can save animals' lives and give them a second chance at a new life.
Everyone works full time so there isn't anyone at the shelter during the week. Please do not drop off donations during the week, but call or e-mail us to schedule a drop off time or pick up. We have had some items stolen in the past.

Wish List/Needed Items
- Dog Collars and Leashes -- all sizes. Really helps if the collars are light in color and without a pattern. We write the name of the dog on the collar.
- Garbage bags ? 60
gallon, XXX-Strength (high ml), please. We have to use 3 or 4 of the low ml bags to hold the trash. Kitty litter weighs a lot.
- BODIES/Human ? Volunteers are our life blood. If your not the type to ?scoop poop?, not a problem, there are many things you can do to still help. To find out more, e-mail Kim R. at lonepineshelter@yahoo.com.
- Dog Kennel Panels - At least 6 feet high, the other doesn't matter. Some of the panels we have are getting to be beyond repair.
- Bleach - we use
several large bottles each week to keep things clean.
- Blankets and comforters - Used to keep the animals warm. Only clean blankets and comforters, please.
- Cedar chips/shavings - Used to keep the dogs warm. Some of the dogs destroy blankets.
- Canned cat and dog food
- Dry and canned kitten food and kitten milk
- Chicken Wire - Used to reinforce and repair fences and kennels.
- Hog Panels (also called utility panels) - The ones with the smaller holes and the thick ones. Used to reinforce and repair fences and kennels for the big dogs.
- Zip Ties - 3 inches and longer. Used to put tarps up, chicken wire, etc.
- Dog Houses - Small - Extra-Large dog houses we never get enough of. Sorry but we cannot take the big wooden ones because they are too big to fit into our kennels.
- Metal food/water
dishes - small to gallon(s) size. The large ones can be found at Tractor Supply.
- Money - Used to pay for items not donated but needed, veterinary care, medicines, spaying/neutering, utilities, gasoline, cleaning supplies, and maintenance supplies.
We strive to do whatever is possible to give the veterinary care an animal may need. However, we are often forced, due to lack of funds, to try to treat the animal ourself before taking it to the vet or to put the animal to sleep. The veterinarians we work with are wonderful and do what they can to help us keep costs down. Just like human health care and prescriptions, veterinary health care and prescriptions have sky rocketed too.
Our dream is to someday be able to give every animal in our care a vet check up, complete with a hearworm test, blood work, teeth cleaning, and the purchase of the a flea/tick/worm/ear mite and heartworm preventatives. We are currently barely able to afford to take a cat or dog to the vet for emergency care.
If you would like to help with the veterinary costs, you may call directly to the veterinarians that we use and put money on our account (Lone Pine Ranch Animal Shelter) with a credit card or you may mail it to the veterinary clinics. If you leave your name, address, and phone number we will mail you a receipt for tax purposes. Here are the vets we currently use.

About Lone Pine
Lone Pine Ranch has been a non-profit 501(c)3 shelter since May of 2003. The shelter is in Centerton, Arkansas, which is just 4 miles West of Bentonville
(home of Wal-Mart's General Offices) and about 45 minutes North of
Fayetteville (home of the University of Arkansas). Click
for directions with a map.
The shelter currently has approximately 75 dogs and 45 cats.
As mentioned in an above section, we operate primarily from donations. We
also are in great need of volunteers and foster homes. Our volunteer base
currently consists of 4 -5 people and we only have one foster home to place
animals that may just need a little socialization (TLC) before being adopted
out.

Adoption
Requirements
Everyone who volunteers at the shelter works full time and it takes us 3 -
5 business days (Monday - Friday days) to process applications.
The volunteers have to fit the calls in during their lunch break and breaks (and
sometimes we cannot take breaks during one of those days). Not all of the time do we get the personal reference or the veterinarian the first time.
They may be busy and ask us to call back.
Please be patient and understand that we all do this as a labor of love and
do not get paid, including the director, for doing what we do.
Priority will be given to local adoption applications as it is difficult to do home visits over an hours drive away.
Adoptions are not done on a first come, first
served basis.
- Completed adoption
application
- Payment of the
adoption fee (Fee will be held for 7 days.)
- Fenced in yard for
anyone adopting a dog
- If adopting a cat, the
adopter must agree that the cat will stay indoors all the time as
all of our cats are strictly inside cats.
- Personal Reference
- Veterinarian Reference
- All dogs and cats in
the household must be spayed/neutered
- Home Visit (within an hour of Lone Pine.)
- If renting, a copy of
the Landlord/Lease Agreement stating that pets are allowed, what type of
pets, size of pets are allowed and how many pets allowed. If a pet
deposit is required, proof that the deposit has been paid is also
required.

Adoption Fees :
Dogs - $60.00; $75.00, if 25 pounds or under; and $100.00, regardless of
size, if the animal is a pure breed.
Cats - $50.00
NOTE: There are times that Adoption Fees are more than what is shown here
because of special circumstances such as we had to pay to rescue the animal
to save it or it needed a lot of veterinary care. The Adoption Fee will be
shown in the animal's bio.
NOTE: Adoptions are not done on a first
come, first served basis. Several applications may be taken and processed
before an animal gets adopted. This is especially true on the small dogs. Our
goal is to find the best home for the animals in our care. Thank you for your
understanding. We would be happy to mail, fax or e-mail our application to interested parties.
