City of Springdale Animal Services

Special thanks to the Humane Society of the Ozarks for their generous donation of commercial washer/dryer units to SAS. The new units are up and running, and staff are all smiles. HSO's efforts to help the agencies who share in accommodating the needs off our regions animals and citizens is greatly appreciated. Their generosity and continued efforts to foster strong alliances and networking between all of our region's animal control and welfare groups is an inspiration to us all. Through these relationships we will undoubtedly improve services and raise standards of care for the citizens and animals we all serve. Thanks for giving us the tools to do a better job!

Thanks to all of our wonderful adopters, donors, staff and volunteers. Thank you so much! We cannot do this without your support and patronage. Please check our Events for more information on upcoming shelter activities and opportunities.

We need Volunteers!

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and may need to complete special training for certain activities. Duties range from clerical assistance, cleaning, fundraising, public education and awareness to animal care and handling. We also desperately need foster homes for our homeless pets. From adults to puppies, kittens, nursing mothers and animals with minor illnesses or injuries, we have a foster pet to fit most households. If you are not ready to adopt, fostering might be the ticket that allows both you and the animal to benefit from a short term committment. Your help and support are deeply appreciated. Please contact us for details on how you can help!

Wish List

We happily accept donations from the public. If you have any of these items, please bring them by during regular business hours. Please be sure all items are clean and ready for use.
Towels of all sizes, soft blankets, dog/cat bedding, treats, toys, litter boxes, kitty litter, dog shampoo, dog and cat food, leashes, collars, metal food bowls, clean and dry newspaper.

NOTE: the price of our Recombitek vaccine has recently gone up in price. This vaccine is necessary to keep our animals healthy. If you'd like to donate money toward helping us purchise this vaccine, we'd deeply appreciate it!

Donate a Bed
Our dogs love to sleep on Kuranda Dog beds, but we don't have enough for everyone. If you would like to donate a bed at a special wholesale price for a another dog to sleep in comfort, please click here.

Patented Kuranda Dog Beds Kuranda Donation count: We are getting close to having enough beds for everyone! We need some of the small size beds so that the little dogs can sleep in comfort, too! We have chosen Kuranda dog beds for our kennel facilities because they are so good for our dogs. They have been tested by our employees and they can vouch that these beds are way comfier than our metal grates! We still don't have enough for all of our kennels. We really need several more small to medium sized beds. If you would like to donate a bed so another dog can sleep in proper comfort, please click here.

Microchip Clinics
We will be hosting periodic low cost microchip clinics at the shelter. Please check our city webpage for upcoming dates and times. No appointment is necessary. Cats, puppies and kittens must be in carriers, dogs on leashes. No vicious, aggressive, feral, sick, or female pets in season please. As these events can be a little crowded, in the interest of the animals' safety and yours, we must limit attendance to well-behaved, healthy pets. We will be offering $20 microchipping of dogs and cats 6 weeks or older. This one time fee includes lifetime registration at the shelter and the first year’s registration with the national database. Special thanks to Dr. Stropes and Dr. Hantz from Crossover Veterinary Clinic, Dr. Wendell from Southwest Pet Hospital, and Dr. Hockett from Best Friends Animal Hospital for donating their time to help host our clinics at the shelter. Future dates will be posted at Please call Springdale Animal Services at (479)750-8163 for further details.

Who We Are

City of Springdale Animal Services is a municipally run shelter. We are almost always full and always looking for potential adopters for our great animals! We have three full-time Animal Control Officers that keep us very busy at all times of the year.

Please remember that Rabies vaccinations on all cats and dogs are required by Arkansas State Law. Dogs and cats living in the City of Springdale are required to be microchipped, and owners must have current microchip and contact information registered with Springdale Animal Services.

Adopting A Friend!

Adoption Policies and Procedures

The adoption fee is $40.00 for all pets. The adoption fee includes a voucher for a Rabies vaccination from a veterinarian, a microchip, shots/deworming.

SPAY / NEUTER POLICY: Each animal over three months of age must be spayed or neutered before being released by the shelter. At the time of adoption, we will need to collect the fee from you for the spay / neuter. We will then make the appointment with the requested veterinarian (Springdale/Fayetteville/Rogers/Bentonville Metro area only) and transport the animal to their clinic. You will pick up your animal after the surgery has been performed. Any additional exam fees, medications, etc. will be your responsibility. For animals under the age of three months, we will still collect the fees but the surgery will be scheduled to take place once they reach three months of age.

Each animal that is released from Springdale Animal Services will receive its combination vaccination (for dogs=DA2PPv, for puppies=Recombitek C4) and also be de-wormed using Strongid-T. Each dog will also have a current Bordetella intranasal vaccination. Please visit your veterinarian for boosters and any additional de-worming treatment needed. We also recommend taking the animal to a veterinarian for a wellness check-up within 72 hours. Exchanges are only allowed for medical reasons as specified by the veterinarian.

Please bring a driver's license or current photo ID that has your current address on it. If your ID doesn't have a current address, we need a copy of a bill or some sort of correspondence that does give your current address. Please use the ID number on the pet's listing when calling to inquire about a listing.
