Charley is a handsome Red Heeler mix who is about a year old. He was picked up on April 13th, and is available for adoption.
Charley is a very intelligent and agile boy, who gets along well with other dogs. He eager to please, and has the makings of a stellar frisbee or agility trials dog. Charley is currently being fostered, but can be seen at the shelter by appointment. If you want a dog as smart as you are, Charley is the dog for you.

We need Volunteers!

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and may need to complete special training for certain activities. Duties range from clerical assistance, cleaning, fundraising, public education and awareness to animal care and handling. We also desperately need foster homes for our puppies, kittens, nursing mothers and animals with minor illnesses or injuries. Your help and support are deeply appreciated. Please contact us for details on how you can help!

We happily accept donations from the public. If you have any of these items, please bring them by during regular business hours. Please be sure all items are clean and ready for use.

Patented Kuranda Dog Beds Kuranda Donation count: We are getting close to having enough beds for everyone! We need some of the small size beds so that the little dogs can sleep in comfort, too! We have chosen Kuranda dog beds for our kennel facilities because they are so good for our dogs. They have been tested by our employees and they can vouch that these beds are way comfier than our metal grates! We still don't have enough for all of our kennels. We really need several more small to medium sized beds. If you would like to donate a bed so another dog can sleep in proper comfort, please click here.

News About Our Shelter
**Thank you all for the outpouring of support we have seen for Springdale Animal Services. As most of you know, we were unlawfully broken into on September 11, 2008 and person(s) let all of our cats and kittens out. They killed four kittens by apparently throwing them against the floor and took 16 others out of our facility. Seven of those have been found by our neighbor, Fayetteville. They were killed in the same manner. The HSUS has issued a $2,500 REWARD for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible. Do the right thing!

Anyone interested in adding to our reward fund can contact the shelter or city clerk's office directly. We have an account specifically set up for that purpose! Please keep your ears open for any additional information. Springdale and Fayetteville police are investigating this incident.

Who We Are

City of Springdale Animal Services is a municipally run shelter. We are almost always full and always looking for potential adopters for our great animals! We have three full-time Animal Control Officers that keep us very busy at all times of the year.

Please remember that Rabies vaccinations on all cats and dogs are required by Arkansas State Law. Proof of a current Rabies vaccination by a licensed veterinarian is required before issuance of a city license. City licenses are required and must be renewed on a yearly basis! Cost of the license is $5.00.

Each dog will also have a Bordatella intranasal vaccination current. Please visit your veterinarian for boosters and any additional de-worming treatment needed. We also recommend taking the animal to a veterinarian for a wellness check-up within 72 hours. Exchanges are only allowed for medical reasons as specified by the veterinarian.
