Who We Are
The Beebe Humane Society was created by a small group of animal activists. It started as a way to help the Beebe Shelter however it has grown into something far beyond what we ever expected. The Beebe Humane Society covers all of White County and some surrounding counties. One of our goals is to stop the problem at it's roots by spaying and neutering all animals that are adopted through our humane society as well as educating the public and assisting with low cost spay/neuter when we can.
Make sure you ask about our many volunteer opportunities. Can't adopt? How about fostering!!! Give us a call for more information... or e-mail us!!
Adopting a friend
The first step in the adoption procedure is to complete an adoption application. This does not obligate you to adopt. You can either submit an online application or you can print and e-mail a copy. Please make sure you fill in the application completely. We are unable to process incomplete applications.
After you submit your application please allow 2-3 days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not meet he/she will be adopted to that home.
Upon approval of your application a volunteer with contact you to set up a time for you to meet the animal or animals your interested in. Pets are shown on an appointment basis for a couple reasons. Some of our animals are in foster homes so times have to be scheduled. Also the Humane Society is a private home and at times we have to leave to go on calls. So please make sure when visiting you let someone know your coming.
The Humane Society does allow out of state adoptions. Currently we do about 60% of our adoptions out of state. Most of these are to the east coast and northeast states by way of the Puppy Bus Transport System.
Adoption Donations
Our adoption donation for cats and kittens is $75. This donation helps us to continue to help future animals. The donation also assures you a happy healthy adjusted new friend for life. It covers the following basic things.
- 4 in 1 Feline Booster Shot administered by our vet.
- The Spay or Neuter of your cat/kitten
- Frontline plus or Adams for flea and tick prevention.
- De-worming (sometimes several doses)
- Rabies shot (age appropriate)
- 4 pound bag of Science Diet Kitten/Cat food.
- Treatment for any other illnesses or problems the cat or kitten has to make it ready for adoption. This can include, but is not limited to, Respitory infections, Ear mites, Dog bites, Urinary Infections and other issues cats and kittens are brought in with.
Our adoption donation for dogs and puppies normally ranges between $100 and $200 but can be a little higher on some pets. It covers the following basics:
- Basic vaccinations: Adult 8 in 1 Booster for dogs that come in at 6 months of age or older. Three sets of puppy vaccinations (5 in 1) if they come in as puppies.
- De-worming of your new dog or puppies (this is given several times)
- Heartworm test if the dog is over 6 months of age.
- Frontline or Adams for flea and tick treatment and prevention.
- Ivomec or Heart guard for Heart worm prevention during the entire time the animal is at our facility.
- Spaying or Neutering of the dog (at 4 months for medium to large puppies and 6 months for small breed puppies).
- State required rabies veterinarian administered by our veterinarian.
- A 5 pound bag of Science Diet for dogs or puppies to start your new friend on a healthy nutrition road
A lot of times our animals come from neglectful situations. This can cause some extra care required and extra vet bills. The following are just some examples of things we try to treat:
- Heartworm treatment if the dog tests positive.
- Anemia (usually caused from malnutrition and fleas and ticks).
- Malnutrition (treated with special foods and extra care).
- Broken or sprained bones.
- Mange (either demodectic or sarcoptic)
Sometimes it takes weeks, if not months to bring these animals back to health.

Come Visit Us!
We welcome visitors to the Humane Society. However since it is a private home and not all of the animals are kept at the main location, we do ask that you set up an appointment first. There are very few Humane Society volunteers so there are times when no one is available to show animals. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to helping you find the next member of your family.
