**Our Pet of the Week**

Max is our pet of the week. He is a Black and White Flat Coated Retriever Mix. Max is estimated to be around 1.5 years old. He gets along great with other dogs and loves playing with toys. Max is full grown and should not get any bigger than he is now. He needs a home where he can be a part of the family. Max is an active dog and needs a yard to run in and possibly a companion dog to keep him company. He would be perfect for an active family. If you are interested in Max please contact the Cabot Animal Shelter at 501.843.2021.

**News**

**Things We Offer**

Shelter Care Insurance is a program that is provided by PET POINT. Every animal that is adopted from our shelter that is over the age of 8wks has the opportunity to receive a free 30 day insurance policy for their pet. This is a fantastic program and has helped many pets.

We are proud to be sponsored by Hills Science Diet pet foods. Hills provides the shelter with food for its homeless pets and also offers all adopters a free bag of food with every animal adopted at our shelter.

Friends Fur Ever is an organization that provides free adoption gift bags to shelters across the country. It is free to us so it is free to you. Every pet goes out the door with a Friends Fur Ever adoption gift bag.

We now offer micro chips at a cost of $25 for Cabot residents. We also chip every animal that is adopted out of the shelter.

We now offer the use of bark collars to help with those neighborly disputes over barking dogs. They are available to use for a $100 deposit that is refunded upon return of collar.

**Who We Are**

The current shelter was established in July of 2006 through a great effort on the part of many people. It was designed with the idea to house dogs and cats of various ages and to still have space to carry out the daily activities of shelter life. We have a separate space to do our laundry, to prepare food for the animals and even a space for the ones who are sick to get well.

The shelter is staffed M-F from 8am-5 pm and the last Saturday of the month from 9am-3pm. Adoption hours are M-F 10am-5pm and the last Saturday of every month from 11am-3pm. We currently have four employees to oversee the daily operations and answer calls when needed. We take great pride in the apperance of our facility and strive to have great customer service. If you need assistance while visiting or see something that needs attention feel free to let one of our staff know. I encourage each and everyone to come down and visit a homeless pet. All of our animals are cared for as if they belonged to us and we would like to find a home for all that is possible. We have a very nice facility and have plans to expand in the near future. We hope to continue to have the support of the community in all that we do!

**Adopting a Friend**

We encourage every person wanting to adopt to come to the shelter and spend some time with the pet you are interested in. After taking time to make an informed decision, we then fill out some paperwork, microchip you pet, and you and your friend will be on your way. The animal will be required to be returned to the shelter on the specified date to be sterilized and receive a current rabies vaccination. We currently have no adoption fee but we do charge a VETTING FEE. The fees are $68 per male feline, $73 per female feline, $88 per male canine, and $93 per female canine. This "VETTING FEE" includes the spay/neuter, micro chipping, Rabies vaccination, City tags, and a surgery filing fee. State law requires that every animal adopted from a city shelter be spayed or neutered.

Yes! Any pet that is of a bull breed is banned in Cabot. Even if it is a mixed breed and has the characteristics of a bull breed it is not allowed in the city.

Unfortunately no. Due to the volume of animals that we see every year and a large number of those being stray and at a health disadvantage sometimes we do have to humanely euthanize.
