Many people buy hermit crabs on impulse, and then find themselves unable or unwilling to provide the complex and time-consuming care they truly need. Often, people are unaware that they need a very specific tropical environment with proper temperature, humidity, both fresh and marine salt water, and other important requirements. Many people are unaware that hermit crabs can live for 30 to 40 years if properly cared for, and simply do not wish to make that kind of long-term commitment.
Dragons Fly Farm is now set up to rescue and rehome your hermit crabs that need a new home. We have balanced tanks of graduated sizes, to provide safe intake, nurse sick crabs back to health, and provide them safe and proper living conditions until they can be transferred to a permanent, appropriate home.
If you need to find a new home for your crab(s), please e-mail us with “Hermit Crab Rehome” in your subject line. We require no intake fee and can meet you anywhere in the general region of Jonesboro, Arkansas. If you would like to apply to adopt crabs, please contact us with “Hermit Crab Adoption” in your subject line (please check our listings to see if we have any ready for adoption first).
PLEASE HELP A LITTLE FRIGHTENED BOY:
We have a small dog with serious anxiety issues who might really benefit from a "Thundershirt." Please consider donating one, sized for a 9-pound dog, to help this little boy become better adjusted.
and order an "XXS" Thundershirt for AR277, Dragons Fly Farm. Our little guy will thank you very much!
If you are interested in any of the animals in our listings, please note the contact recommended in the description of that listing (as animals may have different foster homes, and the foster home can give you the best information about that particular animal). You should expect to have to fill out an adoption application, so that we can be sure that the fit will be right for both you and the animal you are interested in adopting. You should also expect to pay a fee for adoption, which will cover a small part of the veterinary and upkeep costs. All animals will come to their forever homes spayed or neutered with all required shots, and started on heartworm preventative.
Concerned, independent rescuers in Northeast Arkansas, who don't want to be the kind of person who sees animals abandoned on the side of the road and just drives on by.
