News

Our mission is to help find responsible pet owners who will provide loving, caring, and healthy homes for the many homeless and unwanted pets in our area. Staging adoption events coupled with fundraising and requests for supplies and donations at least once a month is our goal. We also sponsor low cost SPAY & NEUTER CLINICS as often as possible (every 4-6 weeks). We support this effort wholeheartedly to help cut down on unwanted litters in our pet-overpopulated area. Please call the Cherokee Village Animal Control office at 870-994-4445 for reservations soon, as these events fill up rather quickly!!!

Who We Are

We are a group of volunteers passionate about taking care of and saving the lives of many abandoned, unwanted, homeless, injured, and abused animals. This organization was established to raise funds to help meet the overwhelming needs of our fourlegged friends. We rely heavily on donations from the public to help meet these precious animals' needs for food, medications, medical care, surgery, and rehabilitation. We always need volunteers who enthusiastically support our efforts and are willing to open their homes to foster litters of kittens, injured cats and dogs who need a little loving care so they can be adopted into good homes after they have healed - and fostering difficult, unsocialized, and neglected dogs and cats. We believe that euthanasia should be a last resort for animals beyond hope and suffering great pain.

Adopting a friend

Our adoption policy is as follows: We require rabies vaccinations within 7 days of adoption (if not up to date) and neutering/spaying of animals within 30 days of adoption (if not already neutered/spayed and if animal is old enough to be altered). Our local veterinarians honor a $25 voucher offered by the City of Cherokee Village toward the cost of spaying/neutering an adopted animal. Follow-up ensures compliance with our policy and requires proof that vaccinations are up-to-date and that city licenses are current (for residents of Cherokee Village). We require vet and personal references - please email spanimalrescue@aol.com for an adoption application, more information and cost of adoption. If the animal has to be transported to its new home, the cost of transportation is the obligation of the adopter. Your cash and check donations can be mailed to SPARE, PO Box 364, Cherokee Village, AR 72525. Secure online donations may be made via Paypal. Here is the link:
The City of Cherokee Village also accepts donations to help defray the cost of restoration and rehabilitation of shelter buildings. Donations to the city can be mailed to Cherokee Village Animal Control, PO Box 192, Cherokee Village, AR 72525.
