Spring is almost here. We are in desperate need of temporary foster homes for cats & kittens, and dogs & puppies. If you have a big heart, and a little bit of free space, and are willing to provide care for an animal or two (or a litter!) that deserve a second chance, please apply to be a foster parent. There are so many animals that need homes, and we cannot possibly house them all at our rescue. With your help, we can save more. The local shelter is not an option. They are also overcrowded, and routinely put animals down who are not adopted out within a few days. Please help save a life by becoming a foster parent!
The first Saturday of each month we are at Hastings from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. We need your help to find homes for a variety of cats, kittens, dogs and puppies. Please stop by, you may save a life and find your best friend in the process! Hastings is located at 2911 E Main Street in Russellville. Come find your new best Furry Friend!
Do you wish you had the time or the ability to adopt a kitten or puppy but can't have a pet right now? Consider adopting a virtual pet. We have cats and dogs available. You may choose any of the pets we have listed, or if none of them meets your fancy, let us know what you are looking for. For a small "adoption fee" you will receive photos and emails from your virtual pet. In return, your donation to Mill Creek Animal Rescue will allow us to feed, care for and spay/neuter the pets we are getting ready to adopt out.
Mill Creek Animal Rescue is located on 15 acres in the Arkansas River Valley. Our mission is to rescue and provide safe and responsible care for homeless, abandoned, and abused animals. We strive to help all animals in need through our service programs. We believe that the welfare of animals is paramount, and feel that we can alleviate problems associated with animal overpopulation and abandonment through the rescue and adoption of unwanted and abused animals; funding of spay/neuter programs; and education and outreach on animal welfare to children and adults in our community.
Mill Creek Animal Rescue does not normally accept personally owned, unwanted pets. Most of our residents are rescued strays. We specialize in unweaned orphans that cannot receive round the clock care and bottle feeding at the local animal control facility. We work with both the Russellville Animal Control and with Furry Friends In Need, fostering dogs and cats who are on death row until a permanent home can be found for them. We are always interested in recruiting more Foster Volunteers to expand our ability to save animals' lives. If you are interested in providing a temporary home for a dog or cat, please contact us.
Because it will change two lives forever - yours and your new companion's. When you adopt from the an animal rescue organization, you save a life and gain a friend. Once you've decided to save an animal, we work with you to ensure a "perfect fit" for both you and your new pet. Whatever your situation, we have access to a large variety of animals - purebreds, mix breeds, all ages and personalities - and we'll help you find the one that is just right for you.
Adopting a companion animal is a commitment to care for that pet for the rest of his or her life. The selection and interview process is thorough and not a process that can be rushed. Adoption fees vary, but are generally between $75 and $150 dollars to help defray the cost of medical care.
Mill Creek Animal Rescue does require adopted animals to be spayed or neutered, either before they leave the shelter or within a specified period of time afterward. Following your pet's adoption, you will be responsible for providing regular veterinary care and for ensuring that your dog or cat is properly licensed. Having a companion animal brings rewards--and responsibilities. Be sure your dog or cat always wears a collar with an identification tag. Provide nutritious food and fresh water for your pet. Make time for exercise, training, and play. Finally, enjoy your new life with your new best friend.
