News

PAWS new shelter that started operation in January 2004 averages over 55 adoptions per month! We are so happy with our new location and just lack some rennovation to make the shelter even better. PAWS is a non-profit, 501( c) 3 humane organization that cares for homeless animals in our community. We are located at 1103 E. Kingshighway (Highway 412) just 1/2 miles east of the overpass. We invite you to stop by and visit us during shelter hours. Current hours are Monday thru Friday from 12p.m. till 6p.m and Saturday 11a.m. till 5p.m. To surrender an animal arrangements must be made in advance to guarantee shelter space is available. When surrendering an animal PAWS will request a donation as we receive no local or government funding. Please visit us when you are thinking of adopting a pet. Our adoption fee covers that the pet will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested, wormed, and given flea & tick preventative. PAWS is raising money to improve our shelter and provide our shelter pets with a healthy environment. Donors have been generous in providing funds by sponsoring a kennel for $100 which PAWS will display a plaque at the shelter. For $200 a metal plaque will be displayed on our outdoor privacy fence. PAWS will continue to provide humane education and a discount spay/neuter program to help end the cycle of unwanted litters. Click here to visit our website.

Our Mission Statement

To Provide an operating animal shelter, open to the public, that provides humane care and permanent placement to homeless companion pets. To attempt to reduce animal overpopulation and enhance the relationship between people and animals, by providing community and classroom humane education, a discount spay/neuter program, nursing home pet therapy, and pet care assistance to the elderly. To improve and develop our shelter and programs. To plan for our future and meet the changing needs in animal care and education. You can help out by becoming a member or adopting one of our pets.
Donate a BedWe have chosen Kuranda dog beds at the PAWS animal shelter because they are so durable. We still don't have enough for all of our kennels. If you would like to donate a bed so a homeless dog can sleep in proper comfort, please click here.
