Our Featured Pet...
All pets featured on this site have been impounded at the shelter for a variety of reasons - picked up for running at large, surrendered by their owners or dogs who have been dumped.
Pets just brought in to the shelter are listed as pending for several days to allow an owner to claim them. After a week or 10 days, they are then listed as adoptable.

Who We Are
The shelter is run by the City of McRae. The city has a very limited budget and does not have the funds to have the dogs examined by a veterinarian or to have them spayed or neutered. The dogs have not been temperament tested. Any descriptions about them are from limited contact with the animal while obtaining pictures of the dogs or helping out at the shelter or asking the city employees about the dogs and should not be construed as fact.
Adopting a friend
Adoption fee depends on vetting done prior to adoption. If the dog is not spayed or neutered at time of adoption, you will be asked to complete and sign a form that you will have the dog spayed or neutered and vaccinated within a specified period of time. This is a state law and is endorceable by law.

The dogs can be seen by stopping at McRae City Hall, 115 South Grand, McRae, Arkansas. Take Hwy. 367 into McRae and cross the railroad tracks and you will be on South Grand. Go past the post office on the left. City Hall is the next street on the left next to the Fire Station. To get to the shelter, follow South Grand as it curves to the right and go to the first street to the left (Linn Street); turn left on Linn Street and go to the end of the street (will be deadend); turn left and you will be at the treatment plant which is also the animal shelter.
