On-going Fundraisers
"The Rainbow Bridge Memorial Program"
This is a relatively new program to our shelter. For a small donation of $10, we will post a picture of your pet along with your name on our "Rainbow Bridge Wall". It will remain there for approximately six months. You may renew your memorial at that time if you wish. If you would like to participate, please send a picture of your pet (this is optional), your name, the year your pet was born and the year he/she went on to "Rainbow Bridge" to Needy Paws Animal Shelter, c/o Rainbow Bridge Memorial, PO Box 523, Clarksville, AR 72830.
Volunteering and Donating
Volunteers are always welcomed at Needy Paws. Stop by and pick up a volunteer application and brochure!
Here are some on-going ways you can donate to our shelter year around:
- Bring us your Harvest Foods receipts. They must be within the past year for us to turn them in and get much needed money!
- Have a bunch of empty cans hanging around and don't know what to do with them? Bring them to Needy Paws. We cash them in and recieve money!
- Become a monthly Sponsor for just $25.00 a month!
- Stop by and get information about becoming a Sponser!
- Volunteer!
- Participate in our honors/memorials program.
- Donate a spay or neuter. This is a great way to help with the over population problem with cats and dogs.
- Shop at our flea market booth in Knoxville.
- Donate items from our Needs List! For example: besides money donations, we need toys, rawhide chews, collars, canned cat food, cat litter, bleach, and liquid laundry detergent food for puppies/dogs and kittens/cats. All of our animals receive clean bedding daily, so we really could use laundry soap.
There are many ways you can be involved with Needy Paws. For more information please call us or send us an email. We are always looking for new and fresh ideas!
Who We Are
Needy Paws Animal Shelter is an extension of Humane Society of Johnson County. One of the Humane Society's goals was to one day to build and operate an animal shelter for the area homeless and lost animals. We are a non-profit organization relying on memberships and donations to keep the doors open. We also contract with Clarksville and Lamar city to handle and shelter their animal control dogs .
Adopting a Friend
We want to help you find the pet that is right for your household and lifestyle. We encourage you to come and visit with several of our animals, take the dogs out for a walk, spend some time with any animal you are thinking about adopting. We have an adoption fee that includes the spay or neuter fee if the animal was not neutered before coming to the shelter. These fees vary as to male or female, dog or cat. Of course, all animals adopted from Needy Paws must be spayed or neutered, as per the legal contract you sign at time of adoption. We do not ship animals.
Come Visit Us
Directions from I40: take Exit 58, from either direction, go right off of the offramp. Pass McDonalds, take a right at the third stoplight (Quiznos on your right). You will now be going east on HWY 64. We are 1 mile from the stoplight on the right side of the road. We have a beautiful animal sign with our name on it. You will turn between a big blue building (Thermotile) and a Carl Dobbs body shop, and go down a gravel driveway.
