OUR PET OF THE WEEK

MAX

There is no doubt this little MAX guy is a real cutie. What we are in doubt about is Max's exact heritage. Whatever it is, he's a darling boy, small, young, friendly, and oh, so, huggable. Max has the most adorable tail, curling up and over his back, and the biggest ears! We believe Max is about a year old, and perhaps has some Chihuahua and Pug mix, but there's really no way to know that for sure. He likes to sit on laps, be hugged, and he seems to be housetrained. Max could certainly use a new best friend. Could that be you?

WHO WE ARE

We are a small town animal control facility with a heart. A handful of dedicated volunteers assist the part-time officer in caring for the animals and in trying extra hard to find homes for them. Our animals are under a time and space limit . Our retirement town has an older population which means there are not many adoptions in our own area. Many of our residents would prefer a small dog, if any. Our large dogs are seldom adopted locally.

WHAT WE DO

Our dogs and cats are special. They are walked, played with, and socialized every day they are with us. We handled them, pet them, bath them, and give each one individual love and attention.

TRANSPORT

Please don't be afraid of our Arkansas location as we are able to assist with transport. We use various dog adoption transport systems to the Northeast. We always have volunteers ready to help adopters get thier dog or puppy, and we sometimes use www.uship.com to transport dogs. We have placed dogs in New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio, New Mexico, Wisconsin, Missouri, Kansas, Texas, Mississippi, Indiana, Tennessee, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Iowa, Oklahoma, Michigan, and Illinois in addition to all locations in Arkansas.

ADOPTING A NEW FRIEND

We ask a donation for local adoptions of $50.00 for dogs and $35.00 for cats. Each dog comes with a certificate good for $45.00 (male) and $55.00 (female) toward the cost of spay/neuter surgery (mandatory) and each cat gets a certificate for $30.00 toward the surgery. Some financial assistance is available to qualified persons. Adoption fees will vary for out-of-state adoptions. We are very rescue-friendly.

VOLUNTEERING AND DONATIONS

We can always use help! We save aluminum cans to cash in for the spay/neuter assistance programs, and we will gladly accept dry dog and cat food, used collars and leashes, doghouses, pet carriers, etc. We also accept cash!

COME VISIT US AND SEE OUR ANIMALS FOR ADOPTION!

Our Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Sometimes the Animal Control Officer is away from the building so it would be best to call before you come by to see our animals. Phone 870-670-4474. Adoption anytime by appointment, phone 870-670-4664.

We are located at 705 Hwy 289, just east of Hwy 354, on the north end of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas.
