Alabama Spay/Neuter Clinic

The Alabama Spay Neuter Clinic is located in Montgomery, AL. A new site located in Birmingham, AL is now open. They offer low cost spay and neuter services. Millions of unwanted dogs and cats are killed in America every year. Please help to prevent this by spaying or neutering your pets.

Who We Are

Arab Animal Control is funded by the city, but funds are limited. CARAA (Companion Animal Rescue of Arab, Alabama) is a new non-profit group of volunteers taking care of the animals at the Arab Animal Shelter. Monetary donations are greatly needed and appreciated as well as Pedigree puppy food, flea & tick prevention products, kitten food, wormer products, blankets, sheets, towels, portable kennels, dog houses, laundry soap, bleach, liquid detergent, long handled and short handled cleaning/scrub brushes, paper towels, copy paper, large electric heaters (for winter) & long extension cords, prepaid gift cards: Wal-mart, Pet-Depot, Petsmart, Lowes, Staples. Special Needs: someone to install a recently donated washer & dryer (includes adding plumbing and electrical outlets). More large towels and newspaper are needed as well. Our medical bills are also expected to be much higher this month - worming and shots to keep the puppies alive and well add up quickly for all the pups. Any contributions will be really appreciated.

Volunteers Needed Daily

Volunteers are needed mornings and late afternoons/evenings to feed and water animals, clean out kennels, brush and bathe dogs when needed, and help to socialize animals by spending time playing with them in our new exercise yard. Volunteers are asked to sign up for specific days in advance to help us plan so that the animals are cared for everyday. Volunteers must sign a waiver. Volunteers are asked to fill out our log so that we can track the needs of the animals. If you cannot make it on a day that you are signed up for, please contact us so that we can see that the animals are attended to. For further information send an email to CARAA.

Monetary donations are tax-deductible and can be mailed to:

Animal/Pet Safety

Most lost pets turned into the Arab Animal Shelter or picked up by animal control have no form of identification on them. Sign up for a special numbered identification tag registered with the Arab Animal Control and linked to Arab Police. If your animal is found, this special numbered tag can help ensure his/her safe return home. $5.00 donation per pet. For information, call CARAA at FUN 92.7 at 256-586-9300 or after hours and weekends CARAA at 256-738-0272.

Adopting a friend

The dogs/cats at the animal shelter are in need of good homes and would make some family wonderful pets. There are adoption fees to defray the cost of shots and worming. All dogs leaving the shelter have been wormed and received at least their first 5-way booster shot (Distemper-Adenovirus Type 2-Coronavirus-Parainfluenza-Parvovirus). Puppies may have received further boosters, depending on how long they have been in the shelter. For an unaltered dog or puppy the adoption fee is $40.00. For a dog that has already been spayed or neutered the adoption fee is $90.00. Arrangements can be made to have the animal in questions spayed or neutered before adoption. State Law requires that all animals leaving the shelter be spayed or neutered within 30 days of adoption, or as soon as the animal is old enough . Please adopt your next pet here!!
