About Our Virtual Kennel/Foster ProgramsWe don't actually have a kennel. All FCDF animals are cared for and housed by FCDF volunteer foster homes. In addition, we allow individuals and other animal welfare organizations who have animals in need to run ads on our web site (FCDF Community Service Ads). Please consider making a home for one (or two!) of them. Check out the FCDF Virtual Kennel.
Spay/Neuter Certificate ProgramIf you live in the Greater Birmingham, Alabama area, you can purchase a low-cost spay/neuter certificate from Friends of Cats and Dogs which can be used at one of several participating area veterinarians.For those living in other parts of the country, we encourage you to contact your local humane shelter. They probably have a similar offer. They may also be able to recommend other sources in your area for low-costs spay/neuter procedures.
Purchasing certificatesCertificates can be purchased by mail or from certain participating vets. Click here to see a list of participating vets. The list indicates which vets sell the certificates in addition to listing vets that accept them. To purchase by mail, make check payable to FCDF for the appropriate amount and mail to:
FCDF Also, please write "FOR FEMALE CAT / FOR MALE CAT / FOR FEMALE DOG / FOR MALE DOG" on your check so that it's clear what the check is for. You should receive the certificate in approximately two weeks. Of course, certificates have to be used at one of our participating vets. We recommend contacting the vet you intend to use and let them know that you wish to use our certificates when you set up the appointment.
