The Lee County Humane Society has a new program for black and white cats and dogs, as well as solid black cats and dogs at the shelter. “Tuxedo” pets will have a discounted adoption processing fee of $50 each Tuesday.
Statistically, black and white and solid black shelter animals are harder to place and remain in the shelter longer than other animals. LCHS hopes to increase adoption rates for these pets by offering “Tuxedo Tuesdays.”
In order to qualify for the “Tuxedo Tuesday” discount, your adoption application on the animal must be submitted along with the required information on any Tuesday afternoon. As with any adoption at the Lee County Humane Society, you will need the following information to submit your application:
-A copy of your lease stating that pets are allowed (If you rent your home)
-A copy of your vet records for your current pet(s)
-A driver's license or other form of photo identification
Also, please note the animal’s primary color must be black in order for qualify for Tuxedo Tuesdays.
Foster Homes Urgently Needed! If you are interested in helping the shelter, fostering is one way to make a huge impact. The Lee County Humane Society manages a growing foster care program that offers an exceptional experience for animal lovers who aren’t looking to adopt, but want to make a difference in the lives the animals at the shelter. Animals in need of support beyond the shelter environment benefit from being fostered.
We always need more fosters for the many animals that visit the shelter each year. In order to foster, you must be able to provide a safe, stable, loving environment for the animals in your care. There are a few simple steps to the foster application, and once you complete an interview with the LCHS Foster Coordinator, you are ready to bring animals in your home. If you are interested in fostering, contact Heather Meadows at heather@leecountyhumane.org. A foster animal’s stay with you may be temporary, but the impact on their life and your own will be forever. |
