Our Mission Statement and Who We Are

"The mission of the Greater Birmingham Humane Society is to promote the humane treatment of animals and people through education, advocacy and services."

The Greater Birmingham Humane Society (GBHS) strives to place our adoptable animals into responsible and loving homes through our adoptions program. We are also busy educating the public both in the schools and through our daily interactions with the public. The GBHS has an outreach education program where we are able to go into the schools and help encourage the youth of our community to care for all living things. Our volunteer program allows caring and dedicated volunteers to help care for the animals and find them loving homes. The GBHS also has a full-time humane education/cruelty prevention staff member who works with the local law enforcement agencies to help stop the cruelty to animals in our city and county. For more information about any of these services please visit our website at www.gbhs.org!
