A rescued dog can be your best friend. They know love when it comes their way, and try so hard to show love and gratitude in return. Some have had such a hard life, one would think they would be afraid to trust any human again, but it is amazing how quickly some of them respond to unconditional love. Many of our dogs are house dogs and are used to laps and beds and lots of hugs and kisses.
We have been rescuing and re-homing dogs and cats for many years. We have many wonderful dogs who would be terrific companions. They range from little to very large, puppy to fully mature, all just wanting someone to take them home and love them.
It is just us two, one loving, dedicated teenage volunteer, and the friends she brings to help, taking care of currently 54 dogs and 25 cats. We have no supporters.
Angel, who has been volunteering since mid-summer of 2011. She has become invaluable. She scoops poop, mixes food and feeds, cuts grass, and many other things. Most important to us, she loves the dogs and spends times with them. She has a very real "touch" when it comes to the dogs. All of them love her dearly.
We are incorporated as a non-profit, no-kill shelter, and we are under the umbrella of Rebecca's Paws and Claws, 501(c)(3)..
We are located in Arley, AL, immediately across the road from Hidden Cove Campground, which is on beautiful Smith Lake. We are small, with a couple of acres fully fenced with several pens. The dogs have about an hour of free time twice a day to run and play together. They thoroughly enjoy and need to run and interact with each other. Every one is individually petted and talked to every day.
URGENT, URGENT, URGENT - Due to some neighbors claims that the rescue is lowering their property values, we are under court injunction to drastically reduce the number of dogs we have for adoption. Even a sharp reduction is no guarantee that the judge will not shut us down and take the dogs. My dogs MUST BE KEPT SAFE.
