<PEANUT>
Are you looking for a big, goofy, love of a dog to join your family? Meet Peanut! Peanut was found as a stray. He is now living in a foster home while he finishes up his heartworm treatment. Once he finishes up his treatment, he will be available for adoption. Please contact us if you are interested in setting up a Meet & Greet with Peanut! And, remember our special $75 ‘dog of the Month’ adoption rate!

News

We are moving to Western NC! We are still in the process of changing vets, updating sites, etc. However, we do still have several foster dogs in Birmingham, AL that are available for adoption!

Who We Are

Cross My Heart's mission is to prevent the overcrowding of animal shelters, where innocent dogs are routinely put to rest to make room for incoming strays. We concentrate on pulling dogs on death row at local shelters. It is each volunteer’s mission to rescue, provide sanctuary for and ultimately re-home these abandoned, abused and neglected dogs. Occasionally, we assist in providing temporary care for dogs of owners experiencing extenuating circumstances, causing them to be unable to care for their pets.

Cross My Heart achieves its mission by utilizing foster homes. In these homes, foster families provide loving care for dogs until they are placed in permanent homes. Such care includes the following: any necessary medical attention, de-worming, shots, spaying and neutering. Early spaying and neutering is used only when such methods are deemed safe by our veterinarian When time permits, dogs will undergo in-house, crate and basic obedience training. We also evaluate each dog’s temperament and personality to ensure proper placement in the best family / home possible.

We are a volunteer organization working to re-home stray, abused, and abandoned dogs. All dogs from Cross My Heart come to you up-to-date on shots, spayed/neutered, de-wormed, and micro-chipped. If time allows, fosters work with dogs on their manners, crate training, and house training. There is an adoption fee. If you would like to set up a Meet & Greet with a particular dog, please email us.

Our adoption process has four steps: * Vet reference check * Home visit * Adoption Contract * Adoption donation of $125

Things to Consider Before Adopting: * Why do you want a dog? * Do you have time for a dog? * Can you afford a dog? * Are you prepared to deal with special problems that a dog can cause? * Can you have a dog where you live? * Is it a good time for you to adopt a dog? * Are your living arrangements suitable for the animal you have in mind? * Do you know who will care for your dog while you're away on vacation? * Will you be a responsible dog owner? * Are you prepared to keep and care for the dog for his or her entire lifetime?
