Who We AreSNAP (Spay/Neuter Action Project) is a 501 c3 non-profit organization that serves Madison County, Alabama. SNAP funds surgeries for the companion animals of low incomes members of our community. Participating veterinarians discount their fees as a service to our community.
Although our main mission is helping people to spay or neuter their pet, SNAP also occasionally rescues cats and dogs and tries to find them homes. Please take a look at the animals we currently have that need a home on Petfinder!!
If you would like to help SNAP by making a contribution, please see the SNAP website.
SNAP is 100% volunteer run. We could always use help with a variety of things, ranging from helping wth animal adoptions to work you can do in your own home. If you would like to help SNAP by volunteering, please call 256-536-4002.
Adopting a friendADOPTION FEES: $100 for dogs and $50 for cats unless otherwise stated. SNAP is a volunteer-run non-profit organization, and all of the adoption fee goes towards the cost of veterinarian services and sometimes boarding if the dog is in a kennel and not a foster home.
HOME VISIT: Each adoption requires the completion of a SNAP adoption agreement and a home visit by a SNAP representative prior to adoption in order to ensure that our animals go to good homes that are compatible with their needs. After adoption, a SNAP volunteer will contact you to see how you new pet is fitting into your home.
VETERINARY CARE: All animals are spayed or neutered. Animals at least 12 week old at the time of sterilization also have rabies shots. All dogs have been tested negative for heartworm and have a 6 in 1 (including distemper and parvo) annual booster (DA2PLPC). Dogs awaiting homes in a kennel also have been vaccinated for Bordetella (kennel cough). All cats have been tested negative for feline leukemia and have an annual booster (FVRCPC).
RETURN POLICY: SNAP will accept a pet back at any time. Our adoption agreement requires that if you choose to relinquish the animal, you must return it back to SNAP. Adoption fees are not refundable.
