We Need Your Help!
As you know we are always in desperate need of fosters! But this week we are going to beg for funding.

This weekend alone we have taken in 22 puppies. Some were from cruelty cases, some were from the shelter, some orphaned and some were just found on the side of the road. Some of our wonderful fosters took them in even though they already had a full house. Several of these babies are still nursing and we are bottle feeding them. So, instead of asking for fosters, which we are still in desperate need of, this week we are going to ask for monetary donations to help feed these little ones. As you can imagine it is quite costly to run a rescue. 99% of our funding is provide out of our own pockets. If everyone reading this would just donate a $1 we would be able to do so much more! We are a non-profit organization and any donations you make are tax deductible.

Please find it in your heart to give!!

If you would like to foster:
As a foster, we cater to your needs and wants. How many, how long, size and age are all decided by you. A typical foster keeps puppies for three to 6 weeks. We provide all their vetting needs; all you provide is food and love. Please won't you consider helping us help the animals?

News...

We've got New puppies!
Meet from left to right: Millie, Libby and Buck.
These little guy and gals are very, very lucky. They were saved by a nice lady who broke her ankle rescueing them. Their mother and siblings were being attacked by a pack of vicious dogs. Mom was injured but would not be caught. The other pups did not survive. But, Buck, Libby and Millie are doing just fine. They love their bottle and their new mommy. We think they are lab mixes. Watch for updates on their progress.

Update 9/21/08
Buck, Libby and Millie are growing! They have graduated to "mush." They miss their ninny and look for it occassionally. Look for updated pictures soon.

We want to introduce a new affiliate program with the Critter Gift Shop We are one of the first groups to be involved in the program. Blankets for Babies

We recently partnered with a lady by the name of Kara. She wants to make each of our puppies a personal blanket to go home with. She could use your donations of yarn and knitting needles to help her with the expense of making the blankets. If you can find it in your heart to give something small, like a spool of yarn or even remnants, to help the pups please e-mail us at: alitteratatime@yahoo.com

Madigan's Story

Madigan, an Irish Wolfhound, was what his owner called "my miniature wolfhound." Madigan at 10 months of age was about the size of a golden retriever. If you know anything about IW's then you know they are much larger than a golden. Madigan's vet did exploratory surgery and discovered that he had more things wrong with him on the inside than just some stunted growth on the outside. So Madigan's owner decided not to let him wake up.

Why are we telling you about Madigan? It's simple. Madigan taught more of life's lessons to us in his little short life than one human could have done in a whole lifetime. He taught many of us patience. He taught us to bear our pains and go on. Suck it up! We learned through the surgery that Madigan had been in a lot of pain. Did he ever whimper, whine or complain? No. He continued everyday without ever showing how much he was hurting. He inspired his owner to get up every day despite her rheumatoid arthritis. He taught us a lot. So we wanted to honor our fallen hero!

If you would like to donate in Madigan's name to help save an animal. Please click on the donate button below. These donations will be used only for animals with debilitating illnesses.

A Litter At A Time Rescue wishes that everyone would spay or neuter their pet. There are so many unwanted animals in the shelters across America. Please spay or neuter your pet. It could mean that you save a life!

Who We Are...

A Litter At A Time Rescue is made up of individuals that have one goal, one purpose: that is to fix what is broken. In our case it is broken hearts of the wounded animals that have been cast aside into shelters. These animals were abandoned without a chance to have a family to love them. We take in these babies, we love them, hug them and kiss them. All of our animals are in foster homes where they get the attention they deserve.

Adopting a friend...

AeonGraphix.Com
All adoptions must be approved. An application must be completed, a vet reference will be checked and a home visit will be required. This is to make sure that the new home and the animal is a good match. An adoption contract must be signed. This assures that if the adoption does not work out for any reason the animal will be returned to A Litter At A Time Rescue. There will be an adoption donation for all animals. This donation pays for the vetting done to the animal before it is adopted. This usually includes shots, deworming, spaying or neutering, and a rabies shot. We do provide out-of-state adoptions.

A Litter At A Time Rescue animals are cared for by these rescue friendly vets:

Animal House Veterinary Clinic, Harpersville, AL
Main Street Animal Clinic, Trussville, AL
Caldwell Mill Animal Clinic, Hoover, AL
Alford Avenue Veterinary Clinic, Hoover, AL
Vulcan Park Animal Care, Homewood, AL
Oporto Animal Clinic, Birmingham, AL
We would just like to give a special thanks to all those who work at these veterinary clinics. You guys are wonderful, we thank you and we know the animals thank you from the bottom of their hearts for the help and loving care you give them!

Coming to Visit Us!

A Litter At A Time Rescue does not have a facility. All animals are fostered in individual homes where they are loved and cared for by a family. ALAAT is a small group of individuals who are trying to give as many puppies and kittens a chance at life rather than be destroyed. Our aim is to provide homes for these animals as well as preventing overpopulation.

What You Can Do to Help!

****We are in desperate need for more foster homes. ****

If you love puppies and kittens and would love to open your home to these babies. Fostering is easy! You provide the love, food and toys and we will provide all the vetting. The more fosters we have then the more babies we can save. It is a very rewarding feeling when a baby that you have helped save gets a loving forever home.

If you can find it in your heart to help. We can always use a donation of the following items:

Dry Dog Food
Dry Puppy Food
Dry Cat Food
Dry Kitten Food
Towels
Sheets
Blankets
Paper Towels
Newspaper
Puppy Pads
Cleaning Supplies
Bleach
Dog Toys
Bowls
Money
Yarn
Knitting Needles
