The Cullman Area Animal Welfare Association (CAAWA) is the only non-profit, no-kill organization that rescues dogs and cats in Cullman county. Once the dog or cat is rescued CAAWA provides any necessary medical treatment, spays/neuters the animal, gives rabies vaccination, gives Parvo/Distemper Vaccination,kennel cough prevention tests for heartworms, given fecal exams, wormed, and given flea guard. The dog or cat is placed in a 10 day quarantine to ensure the health of the animal. After the quarantine period is over the dog or cat is placed into a foster home where the dog or cat has the opportunity to become socialized with people and other animals.
Our adoption donation for dogs is $95. The adoption donation for cats is $75. This donation is used to assist CAAWA in offsetting all of the medical expense that each animal incurrs. We are in the process of updating all of our pets by chipping them. Those pets that have been chipped will have an increased cost of $30 due to the additional cost incurred. The new owner will be able to register their pet in their name and address. This donation is tax-deductable.
