Who We Are
The Dog Pound is under contract with the Limestone County Commission and the city of Athens, Alabama to shelter and maintain the unwanted animals of Limestone County Alabama. These animals are delivered by Animal Control Officers and from individuals who live in Limestone County.
We are open Monday-Saturday for adoptions!

Tue,Thur= 8:00am-5:00pm
Sat=9:00am-11:00am

The Dog Pound Goals:
1. To vaccinate, deworm and isolate all puppies and kittens for 1 week.
2. To maintain a clean environment for all impounded animals.
3. To attempt to find the owners of stray animals picked up by Animal Control Officers.
4. To keep adoptable animals as long as possible for adoption.
5. To coordinate a Spay/Neuter Program with other veterinarians in our area.
6. To work with other pet adoption agencies to find homes for adoptable pets.
7. Euthanasia will be our last choice for disposition of unwanted animals.
8. Your constructive input will always be invited.
Adopting a friend
The fee for adopting a pet is $65, no matter the age or gender of the pet. This fee covers the cost of the animal to be spayed/neutered & vaccinated for rabies!
It is very important that you understand that you CANNOT take pets from the shelter and breed them. Most of the animals came in as strays, therefore, we do not have any background or genetic information on them. Breeding these pets would not be in their best interest nor yours.
Also, a Law was just passed in Alabama which requires that EVERY animal, adopted from a shelter, MUST be spayed or neutered!!
