Enriching lives, one cat at a time.
We are so pleased to partner with Alberta Animal Services and the SPCA to help offer FREE microchips to any cat owners on Saturday April 5th at Petland from 10 am to 5 pm. Help spread the word and forward this to friends and family to ensure cats get reunited with their owners!!!
Whisker Rescue is a non-profit charitable organization (#85142 3426 RR0001) located in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada that strives to provide basic needs such as shelter, food, medical attention, and adoption opportunities to stray, homeless & surrendered cats in our care. We are a no-kill organization that relies on volunteers to give every cat that enters our adoption program the time, patience, love and cuddles they need until their forever homes can be found.
Each cat is vet checked, tested for Feline Leukemia virus, vaccinated, de-wormed, spayed or neutered, and tattooed or micro-chipped. The adoption fee is $145, and cats 8 years and older are $65. Whisker Rescues offers a Lifetime Return Policy. We give a full refund within one month of the date of adoption. Please be aware Whisker Rescue has a NO DECLAW POLICY. Our Adoption Contract states effective March 1, 2013 when you adopt through Whisker Rescue, you agree you will not declaw your cat or kitten. For more information please go to www.Declawing.com Please understand, we are a small society run by just a few cat lovers. We will do our best to assist those who need to surrender their cats, but currently have a waiting list for the less urgent situations.
We are fortunate to work in cooperation with several facilities in Red Deer that have generously donated space to help us adopt our lucky felines into loving homes.
Our cats can be visited and adopted through the Deer Park Pet Hospital at 420-Allan Street, Piper Creek Veterinary Hospital at #1-166-37428 Range Road 273 and at PetSmart located in Red Deer at 5001-19th Street, in Edmonton at 3289 Calgary Trail and 2066 38 Ave. NW.
A few luckly felines are also placed in foster homes. To cuddle and adopt these cats please email us (at firstname.lastname@example.org) to set up a visit. Please note, Whisker Rescue will not ship cats. We ask that you come and meet your new friend in person. Thank you for your understanding.
Foster - We rely on our volunteer foster homes to provide care until we can find permanent homes. There is no cost to becoming a foster parent and we will provide everything you need.
Volunteer - We are always looking for volunteers to help out with adoption, fund raising and special events and adoption room cleaning and visiting. As a volunteer, you will become an integral part of a team that is dedicated to giving animals a second chance.
Adopt - Provide a cat with a permanent loving home. Each one of them has a story that will fill you with love and hope. There are so many people that care and the cats are truly grateful.
Become a member or Donate - Membership forms can be found on the Whisker Rescue Website. Please also consider donating to our rescue efforts. We will issue tax receipts for all donations over $20.00.
Wish List - We are always in need of bleach, paper towels and scoopable kitty litter.
Seniors for Seniors- We supply (& can deliver) all food, litter, blankets and toys, and will take care of any medical bills. All you need to supply is a safe indoor home, and a warm lap to curl up in. Our Senior cats are free to Seniors looking for loving companionship, and they can be returned at any time for any reason.
Barn Buddies- We are looking for caring farm or acreage homes that can supply a warm building with fresh food and water daily for our cats that cannot be placed in homes. These cats are free in order to give them a second chance. All are neutered or spayed and vaccinated. Please see our website at www.whiskerrescue.com for an application form, just print it, fill it out and return it to us.
Positive Pals- These cats have tested positive for Feline Leukemia but still have lots of love to give. Consider adopting a buddy if you have a cat that has tested positive, or if you would just like to open your heart to those that need a special place. These cats are free to good homes!
Whisker Reunion- We will work with farm and acreage owners to help reunite cats that have been dumped on their property (usually having an i.d. tattoo, microchip, or collar) back to their owners!
Again, our cats can be visited and adopted through the Deer Park Pet Hospital at 420-Allan Street, Piper Creek Veterinary Hospital at #1-166-37428 Range Road 273 and at PetSmart located in Red Deer at 5001-19th Street, and in Edmonton at 3289 Calgary Trail.
