Prairie Dog Canine Rescue is volunteer run organisation based in Lethbridge, Alberta. We serve all of Southern Alberta but have rescued dogs from as far away as Nunavut. The dogs in our system come from all different kinds of situations- from the reserve dogs, owner surrenders to abandoned or stray dogs. We have at any given time anywhere from 2 to 20 dogs at a time. We are 100% volunteer run and we have no facilities to keep our canine friends so they are put into foster homes where they are taught how to be welcome members of the community.
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped before the time of adoption. This cost is included in the adoption fee. At this time our adoption fee is $300.00- this helps to offset the cost of vetting, food and care for the dog.
Volunteers are needed for the following:
-Fostering
-Public Relations
And as always we could use donations of the following items:
-Money for Vet Bills
-Good QUALITY food
-Collars/Leashes
-Blankets
-Grooming Equipment
-Kennels/Crates
-Fencing
We have strict guidelines that are followed for every adoption. Our goal here at PDCR is to find a lasting, PERMANENT home for these dogs. To do that we have a screening process and do our best that each family and dog are suitable for one another.

We are not a drop off center. We only take dogs that we feel are adoptable or have the potential to be a great dog. If you cannot keep your dog we ask that you contact us with the dogs information- we will list the dog as a courtesy but will NOT take the dog unless we have room. We would rather the dog stay in it's current home where it is comfortable than be moved from house to house.
