Peace River SPCA
Our Featured Pet...
We've got a couple of long term residents down here at the SPCA that would really love to see the outside world. Born at the shelter in July, Alberta and Quill are a couple of shelter favorite cats. With great personalities and a couple of snuggle bugs, both would make wonderful additions to any family. Ask the staff at the SPCA about our little girls...maybe, just maybe they've waited all this time to meet you!
News
For those of you who haven't been down to the SPCA lately, we welcome everyone to see the improvements to the office, cattery and laundry area. Alot of hard work and dedication went into these projects and have made a significant difference. Anyone willing to put forth ideas and information on how we can continue to improve the shelter would be greatly appreciated. Or if your just interested in volunteering, head on down and we'll put you to work :)
With spring time fast approaching, lets make an effort to have your animals spayed and neutered. The Peace River SPCA always has a large number of cats and dogs surrendered to the shelter in the spring time and would love to see more spayed and neutered dogs and cats. There just are not enough homes for all of them, and we all need to make efforts to prevent unwanted litters of puppies and kittens.

Who We Are
The S.P.C.A. is a non-profit homeless shelter for unwanted animals who have been abused, neglected or abandoned. We are very proactive in trying to find the animals at our shelter safe and loving homes and we promote the spaying and neutering of all domestic pets in order to decrease the number of unwanted litters. We reunite lost animals with their worried owners. We raise public awareness and appreciation of animals in our community. We foster in children attitudes of responsibility and sensitivity towards animals through education and visits to our shelter. We strongly encourage responsible pet ownership. For those pet owners who are wanting to re-home their own animals, we have various lists that their names can be put on. We also have a list for those who are looking for a specific pet. Our S.P.C.A. also acts as a holding facility for the Town of Peace River's animal impounds and there is an Animal Control officer who also utilizes the S.P.C.A's office. Although these two organizations operate out of the same building, they are two separate entities. The Animal Control officer sets out fines as needed on behalf of the Town of Peace River. The employees of the S.P.C.A. care for all animals, including impounded cats and dogs.
Adopting a friend
We currently have many cats and kittens up for adoption. We also have dogs and puppies looking for homes as well. Please take the time to view their pictures and read their stories.
