Lakeland Humane Society

The Lakeland Humane Society cares for more than 600 animals lost, orphaned, abandoned, owner-surrendered animals every year. The Lakeland Humane Society is in need of monetary donations to sustain efforts to care for homeless animals in search of new homes. These contributions will help pay for housing, meals, and love the humane society gives each animal each day housed in a safe haven in search of a second chance at a new loving home.
If you want to help make your community a better place for animals, please contact the Lakeland Humane Society today or visit the website at www.lakelandhumanesociety.org, click on How You Can Help.

Donations can be made by calling (780) 594-1896. Contributions - earmarked "Animal Care Centre Fund" - can also be sent to Box 202, Cold Lake AB T9M 1P1 or dropped off to 6220 - 50 Ave, Cold Lake South. We accept VISA. Please do not mail cash. Charitable Receipts will be issued for $10.00 or more.

    PET CARE TIP # 1

Puppies under the age of three or four month (longer in some circumstance) have not yet developed reliable bladder and bowl control; therefore it is not its fault if he or she has an accident in the house. You can not expect a puppy to be completely housebroken before it is six to eight months old. To start housebreaking put your puppy outside before and after play, immediately after a nap, after every meal, and first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Just as you would not expect a baby to know when to use the potty, you can not expect a puppy that is not fully developed to know when to go outside.

    PET CARE TIP # 2

Why do agility? Well agility can foster better communication between you and your dog; build a bond of trust between human and animal; stimulate dogs both physically and mentally; promotes fitness and good health; and promote confidence in a shy or sensitive dog. For more information on agility classes or other sports you can do with your dog please feel free to call the Cold Lake Dog Training Club at 594-3644.
