Who We Are...
Welcome to the home page of For the Love of Cats, Inc. My name is Judy Baker, and I am the founder of this organization. I dedicate all of my time away from work to the location, rehabilitation, and placement of stray, abused, and feral cats. Most of the cats are housed in my special home for them. I spend many hours nightly there providing a clean, safe, nurturing environment for these beautiful creatures. I have many beautiful and loving cats who would cherish and thrive with a home to call their own. All of our cats are tested for feline leukemia and AIDS, vaccinated, and spayed/neutered before placement. Kittens too young to be altered (less than 5 months) will be placed with an agreement that the new owner must have the kitten spayed/neutered upon maturation, and send proof of the surgery to us. We are very serious about this, and so is the state of South Carolina, as it is legally required.

How to adopt...
If you are interested in adopting a cat from my organization, please remember that I pour my heart and soul into the care of these darlings. I will expect you to do the same. An adoption is exactly that. You will be expected to care for and nurture the beautiful cat of your choosing from the date of adoption, until the end of its life. In sickness and in health. These critters are not disposable. Each one is an individual with a character, a personality, a heart and a soul. They will give to you the amount of love you give to them, times ten. We will expect you to adopt the cat as a member of your family, with the intention of giving it a FOREVER HOME. We have an application and screening process. If you are interested in one of our beautiful cats, please e-mail us for an application. We are also happy to answer any questions you may have. You can then come over and meet my feline friends. Undoubtedly, one of them will pick you right away! Not even close to all of our available cats are seen here! We ALWAYS have kittens and literally over a hundred adult cats to choose from!

What we expect...
We expect all of the cats we adopt to be in a home that does NOT allow the cat to roam free. This is for the cats' own protection. These cats will either need to be indoor cats, or kept in a yard. If you would like for your new cat to enjoy the great outdoors, we will be happy to explain the process of cat fencing to you at the time of adoption. This requirement is for the cats safety as thousands of cats are killed on roads or by predators every year.

But what if...
That being said, I do understand that sometimes circumstances arise where you will not be able to provide for your new family member. If that unfortunate circumstance should arise, please understand that For the Love of Cats, Inc. will always and forever take that baby back into our care. They are never to be turned over to a shelter or given away. Please call For the Love of Cats, Inc if you need to re-home a cat you have adopted.

But, I have a cat I can't care for...
WE ARE EXTREMELY FULL AT THIS TIME!! WE CAN NOT TAKE ANY MORE CATS AT THIS TIME!!! PLEASE CONTACT YOUR LOCAL HUMANE SOCIETY OR CONSIDER PERFORMING A PRIVATE RESCUE!!! We could use lots of help right now! The cats and kittens have just been streaming in! We need volunteers to clean litter boxes, donations of food and litter and help, help, help with adoptions and donations! Please contact us if you have it in your heart to help!!

How to help...
Though many of our cats are housed in my special home for them, understand that there are also many feral cats around the area that our organization cares for. If you would like to send a donation to help with food, medical care, etc, please send it to:

For the Love of Cats, Inc.
416 South Oak Rd.
Florence, SC 29505
We gladly accept monetary donations, but are also more than happy to receive donations of cat litter, cat food, bedding, cat toys, flea prevention, etc. We are always also more than happy to allow volunteers to come over to help care for the cats, give them love, clean litter, feed them, or to feed the many ferals in various locations around Florence.

This organization would like to send out a special thank you to the veterinary angel named Dr. Gaddy and the wonderful staff at his clinic. Dr. Gaddy takes care of all of our cats and kittens, and even some dogs that may happen our way. He is a wonderful man, and an experienced veterinarian.
