Not getting the search results you had hoped for?
Expand your search
For example, in the age dropdown box instead of searching for a "baby" try also "young" or just search "all".
Since rescue groups and shelters designate size and age criteria the standards they use may be slightly different.
For instance, while a search for a...
- Animal :"Dog"
- Breed:"Boxer"
- Age :"Baby"
- Size:"Medium"
...does not list any results, a search for the same criteria with exception of size replaced by SIZE: "large" may get a result.

Not finding the breed or type of pet you are looking for?
It may be that the breed you entered on the search form is listed on our site differently.
Try Viewing Our Breed List
If you have expanded your search or cannot find the pet you are looking for within our breed list, we recommend that you check back often. Our site is updated with new pets daily.
You may also view our Shelter and Rescue Directory and contact an organization near you, they often keep lists of potential adopters and will get in touch with you if a pet matching your criteria enters their care.
Having Difficulty Entering Your Location?
Please make sure that you are entering either your correct American zip code or Canadian postal code (including the space). If you are searching by the name of a town, please type it as town, ST (using the two letter abbreviation for the state).
For example, you would type either 07978 OR Pluckemin, NJ. It is recommended, that you enter a zip code or city and state abbreviation rather than just entering your state name.
If your web browser is "cookie-enabled" it will remember your zip code for future visits so that you do not have to re-enter it each time.
For national searches, you do need to enter a location, as the search results list pets matching your search criteria in order from nearest to farthest from your location.
