More About Eleanor Roosevelt
GREAT NEWS!! Ellie has a loving home with a couple with a one story home and a RAMP leading to the fenced in yard! She'll be living with a jack russel and Am Staff mix if all goes well.
GOOD NEWS! Ellie is now WALKING and RUNNING and PLAYING after being hit by car and temporarily paralyzed in Nov 2007. This strong spirit full of kisses is available for adoption and waiting for you! Ellie does very well with other dogs, even small dogs! She does need an owner who will be understanding that she is great with those she loves, and pretty good with new people, but she still needs some patience in this area. She doesn't walk or run perfectly, but she enjoys life. She may have some accidents in the house, so a little patience is needed with this too :) She is a miracle dog and will be an AMAZING addition to the right family!
Eleanor "Ellie" Roosevelt was rescued on Thanksgiving Eve 2007 after being hit by a car on the FDR Drive in New York City. Ellie has made amazing progress - her life was saved with emergency veterinary care during the first 48 hours, and the lower part of her body was initially paralyzed but thanks to all the love and support, excellent veterinary care and donated physical treatment, Ellie is now walking on her own, wagging her tail very often and giving lots of kisses to her caregiver! Now Ellie is waiting for the right home where she can continue the rest of her rehabilitation to fully recover and start enjoying life in a REAL HOME!

If you may be interested in adopting or fostering Ellie, please email beth@sheltershowcase.com or call Dr. Dashfield at 973 841 0987. Ellie seems to do well with other dogs and loves to explore and get belly rubs! She's looking for a temporary or permanent home where she can continue her physical therapy once or twice a week that is being donated by Canine Aquatics in Randolph, NJ. Ellie is looking for a patient home who will understand that she was a street dog until recently, and she takes just a moment to warm up to new people.
