More About Porter

Porter is a 5-year old Lab/Pointer mix. Porter is down on his luck and REALLY desperate for a new home. He was here as a puppy 5 years ago, then got adopted out and returned after about 3 years, and then adopted out again and returned after a year, and now, it looks like he may just spend another year here at Pal. He looks like a quite stately "gentleman", doesn't he? He knows basic commands of sit, paw, down and stay. He is neutered and housetrained. He also gets along with some other dogs, older kids and cats. He's been through some obedience training, and would like to practice his skills with you. Won't you be a friend to Porter and welcome him into your home? Porter is a confident male dog that needs a good strong arm to lead him. He will be a good boy, with the right guidance. He is very loving and affectionate with people once he forms that bond. If you want to meet Porter, call and leave a message and we will bring him with us on weekends to either Petsmart or Petco in Greensburg. Did you know that darker-coat dogs have a lower chance of being adopted? Yes, this is true. And bigger dark colored dogs have an even lower adoption rate. Porter is not completely black. Porter has a tad of brindle coloring in his coat, and a white patch on his chest and white on his paws. Here are a few more things I'd like to point out about Porter. He is a medium-sized dog and he is not a puppy, so he doesn't take up much space and he will not chew up your shoes, or your furniture. He has lived in a home before and was never destructive. Did I mention he is housetrained? Also, I’d like to mention that dark-furred pets make it easy to accessorize — black goes with everything! 8-26-09 WORKING WITH PORTER. A volunteer has taken him walking two days in a row so far and he just keeps getting better each time...Porter responds very well to verbal commands. He has great "buddy" potential...but needs a home to continue his improvement.
Home without children (< 5 yrs old)

Porter is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.
